As a book, well worth it. If you liked Split Infinity, you'll like Blue Adept since it picks up exactly where Split Infinity left off. As a book, well worth it. If you liked Split Infinity, you'll like Blue Adept since it picks up exactly where Split Infinity left off. A bit of the standard Piers Anthony oh-here's-another-not-quite-relevant-to-the-plot-side-adventure dalliancing, but entertaining and full of great sci fi and fantasy constructs.

However, the Kindled version was CLEARLY transcribed via OCR (Optical Character Recognition) from a printed version and not reviewed by a human being for accuracy. There are between 1 and 5 mistranslated words PER PAGE. Blade instead of Black, "kid:" instead of kick, it goes on an on. It becomes distractingly annoying!

I have to recommend the printed version rather than Kindled, which I assume doesn't have these mistakes.

Journey with Stile, in a world of High-Tech--Juxtaposed with a Realm of Fantasy and Magick. Experience a world in-which you are not allowed to wear clothing (unless absolutely necessary), if you are not among the Elite...and a piece of Lingerie is a treasure to be kept safe, like gold or diamonds in our own world. Our hero is a man of Sports and a contender not-only in games and Olympic feats, but of quests in magickal lands... trying to survive assassination on both planes of existence! Even crossing-over is a danger to his life. This is very adventurous reading, with Sci-Fi & Fantasy...Futuristic, High-Tech & Magickal, Low-Tech scenarios...combined in a flowing epic of self-discovery and Mastership. You may have noticed, that I did not review the first book of the series ("SPLIT INFINITY") and opted for "BLUE ADEPT," instead.... Well, the cover of this book attracted me to the series (Glad it hasn't changed :) --So, I went with my...instincts...on this issue. Anyway, all the books are great! Make sure you don't forget "JUXTAPOSITION," or you will be left hangin' until you receive the next purchase. I loved the series and I suggest searching for all of Piers Anthony's novels.... This is a guy you can't go wrong with. So, there you have it--Introductory Course: How to Live in 2 Worlds, Simultaneously!

4.0 out of 5 stars High-tech gaming meets the fantasy quest, July 30, 1998
By A Customer
Stile is a genius. He has to be. Not only must he win the Tourney, a high-tech contest of skill in both mind and body, but between rounds he must become his alter ego, the Blue Adept, and save his lady love... all this while trying to figure out who wants him dead. Only Anthony would try to weave such a tangled web.... much less hold it for seven books. While this is not blow-me-away stuff, it'll still keep you up past your bedtime... I suggest ordering the first four at one time, 'cause the way this is cliffhung, you won't be happy waiting for FedEx if you don't.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Version - Blue Adept, March 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My assumption is that you know the Blue Adept story and you're looking to add it to your kindle collection. My rating is based on the kindle experience and not the book itself.

Book cost at time of review is full price of a paperback. With such pricing comes an expectation of quality. Put this at $2 and my rating would improve because my quality expectations would be lower and frankly I'd be happy with the product received. At full price though I'm a bit outraged.

Download the preview and I'm positive you'll see the spelling errors in the first few pages. It seems like there's a couple every few pages and could likely be distracting or possibly jarring. It does come and go and it seems that various words are worse than others.

Additionally this is the second book in the series and the ONLY book currently on Kindle.

Overall I'm not please with this purchase. I already have the complete paperback series and I was playing around with the kindle (it's been new for a month now to me) and downloaded this. Luckily not all d/l's or conversions are as horrid as this one, but boy have I been left with a bad taste in my mouth from this publisher and I'm highly unlikely to purchase from Random House Digital, Inc. again. I mean, if my $2 complete works of Mark Twain can have FAR less spelling errors than this $7 book...

ggrrrr i say. grrrr

5.0 out of 5 stars Gift for Piers Anthony Fan, November 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was a gift for my boyfriend who is a fantasy fan and a Piers Anthony fan. The product came quicker than expected and was in perfect condition. I can't wait to give it to him with the other books from the series for Christmas.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another frustratingly typical Anthony sequel!, September 6, 2000
By
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Piers Anthony books are like crack. They're everywhere, and once you start, you have to read them all. It's awful. Because everyone I know who's read them has read them all, and I suspect almost everyone who reads them reads them all, and yet at least a third of every one of them is exposition. You can skip whole chunks of any book that's not the first in a series, and you will miss nothing. It's like old newspaper serials, where "The Story So Far" would be twice as long as the new installment. I've been here before. I know these people. Get on with it. And this is not complicated stuff to begin with. This is not hard to pick up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy and Science Fiction; What's better!?, December 19, 1996
By A Customer
This is one of Anthony's more serious works when compared to the Xanth puns. The book--the series in fact--has the essence of both Sci-Fi AND Fantasy blended together in a cohesive work that should delight both the AD&D players and the Trekkers

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan, May 14, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue Adept (Paperback)
Stile is a serf on Proton, a planet where the all powerful, obscenely rich, Citizens are the ruling class and the serfs are there to serve. A serf must leave after 20 years, unless he can win Citizenship in the annual Tourney.

Stile is also an Adept in Phaze, a beautiful planet where magic is operational. And, Stile, is the strongest magician in Phaze, where he is the Blue Adept.

Someone on Proton and in Phaze wants Stile dead. Forced to enter the tourney three years before his tenure would end, Stile is now crossing between Proton and Phaze seeking the one who is trying to kill him and has already killed the original Blue Adept - his identical self.

Stile has a friend on Proton, a beautiful self-aware humanoid robot named Sheen. She is programmed to protect and to love Stile. In Phaze, Stile has Neysa, a Unicorn with the ability to transform into a woman or a firefly.

The "Blue Adept" is the second book in the Double Exposure trilogy. The first is "Split Infinity" and the third is "Juxtaposition." It is very strongly recommended to read "Split Infinity" first. The trilogy is an excellent mix of Science-Fiction and Science-Fantasy.

I enjoy this trilogy, and have read it three times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Piers Anthony is the Literature Adept!, November 30, 1999
Piers Anthony is a Literature Adept! It's true. The man is encredible! I read his auto-biography (Bio of an Ogre), and it's great! I can just picture him in his cabin in Florida, writing great works of literature. The story of Stile, the next Scott Sethgreen, is magically transported from the world of Proton, to the world of Phase, is creative, and funny. There is no vernacular english spoken in Phase, and Stile suddenly becomes "The Blue Adept." His best freind is murdered by an unknown villain, who is coming for Stile next. Together with The Lady Blue, his charge, Sheen, his lovely robot, and the help of a Unicorn or two, magic harmonica in hand, Stile is off to destroy the enemy.
