Product Description
Mexican Agave Nectar is an all-natural sweetener with the lowest glycemic index of available sweeteners. Agave Nectar is obtained from the naturally occurring, desert Agave plant, which is mostly found in Mexico, southern and western United States and in central and tropical South America. Agave Nectar is produced in Mexico and comes from the same family as the Blue Agave Plant, or Agave tequilana, which is used to make tequila. Agaves are commonly thought to be a cactus, but the plant is actually related to the lily and amaryllis families and as such has its own genus. The Blue Agave plant was used for its medicinal and functional properties by early inhabitants of the Americas thousands of years ago. It was not until recently, however, that the nectar from the plant was recognized for its exceptionally sweet properties. Today, the circular 'heart' of the finest Blue Agave plants is harvested and processed for its Blue Agave Nectar by Molino Real.
