This is a good introduction to Blue Angels History for someone who wants an overview of the history of this venerable flight demonstration squadron. It covers the origin of the squadron in 1946 and up to the modern era of the F/A-18 Hornets. It has the same content as the author's other book, "Blue Angels: A Flyby History." It has some excellent photos especially from the earlier eras of the team flying Bearcats, F-9F's, and F-11's.However, for someone looking for more in depth descriptions of the flight maneuvers, more comprehensive chronological histories, and more in depth first hand naratives, I would recommend other texts, including the book, "Phantoms and Angels" (the definitive history on the Blue Angels F-4 Phantom teams of 1969-1973, and has the most comprehensive description of the Blue Angels flight demonstration sequence) Brian Shul's, "Blue Angels: Portrait of Gold", and the more dated but comprehensive book of Jim Mcguire, "Pictorial History of the Blue Angels."
