In and out... of favor,

I thought Red Peters's second album was a step down from `I Laughed, I Cried... I Fudged My Undies!' The songs weren't as consistently funny to me, although the CD overall had quite a few bright spots. The tunes are brimful of the sexual innuendo and double-entendre... the Red Peters trademark. I even found a new genre favorite with the disco theme `Pullin' It All Night Long'. In this work, Peters tries out different genres to cut down to size. There's the country tune `Long and Hard', the `I Wanna Polka Polka', and a new Christmas carol mixed in with the cocktail/lounge standards. He also tries his hand at audio bits- sketches and ad satires. These were hit-and-miss with me. I loved `Babes' Auto Villa', `Peenitch', and the suppository ad; unfortunately, the rest of them fell flat. And, being the politically incorrect guy he is, Red takes a few sacrilegious shots at our national pastime's seventh-inning-stretch tradition with `Take It Out At The Ball Game'. And his phone call to the Pope is certainly an unforgettable moment. One thing that really irks me-sometimes the curse words are bleeped out, and at other times you hear them (very) loud and clear. I wish it were one way or another. Other than that... if you enjoyed Joe Pesci's character Tommy DeVito from `GoodFellas', the final `bonus' track is something to savor... `Late

This effort is nowehere near as good as Red's last outing.
Not that he could be outed much more than he already has been. Save your money!

I was introduced to Red Peters' second album, Ol' Blue Balls is Back, on a slapdashery trek to New England in 2000 and I was thoroughly impressed by both the talent and the humor evidenced in this effort. The Spelling Song and The Closing Song are, in particular, extraordinarily funny. Another very humorous track for the holidays, You Ain't Getting S*** for Christmas", is a wonderful addition to follow up his "Holy S***, it's Christmas, from Red's first album. Both of these songs give me the jollies. This is a recording that you could play low volume at the Shriner's club or your grandmother's birthday party and no one would notice how utterly tasteless the lyrics were because of the smoothness of the music and lyrical stylings of Red.

When it comes to off-color levity, there's no one better than Red Peters. His songs sound familiar the first time you hear them, and you'll soon find yourself singing along to lyrics that would make a longshoreman (or at least a longshoreman's wife) blush. This new release is equally as good as "I laughed, I cried..." For more Red Peters, check out the "Taxpayer's Blues" CD which includes Red singing "The Taxpayer's Polka."

This new one is unbelieveable! What a band ! (or orchestra)Like the first Red Peters album, this one has great production, great songs and some really funny comic bits. He uses many different styles of music, but nails down the feeling on each cut. Another timeless classic! My favorite cut is the one called "The Spelling Song". Would make a great soundtrack for a movie...Red's sense of humor is out there...way out there - but it's so funny that you'll laugh, you'll... you know ...
