Just here to bring balance by countering the bone-headed 1 star review. One star because the "kid" is too stupid to read the man's name beside the title!
Superbly inventive jazz guitar, smeared with blues and funk.

Much underrated JBU mixes some haunting blues with his far-out guitar antics.
Great rhythm section makes it good driving the car or even doing the dishes. My no 1 guitarist amongst the living !

Like South Delta Space Age, you have Bernie Worrell & Amina Claudine Myers on organs, and Bill Laswell (produced) on bass; but they march to a different drummer. Sounds great on paper, but this is neither funk/jazz (like "Odyssey" band) or down home blues (like Sun/Memphis sessions). The playing is great, but the material smacks of an attempt at commercial viability. The band gets a great sound, but (boy, I hate to say this about Blood) there's no there there. As a pop record, I'd give it 4-5 stars, but compared to the earthy blues and solid funk grooves I know the guitar master is capable of, this CD is slim nourishment for his fans. Maybe the accessibility will expand his audience, but if you want thrills, start with any of the Odyssey albums.
