Klaus Schulze in classic form, December 14, 1998
By A Customer
"In blue" was recorded at the end of December 1994 and features 3 long tracks (78, 44 and 33 minutes) of outstanding quality. On track 2 we hear a welcoming return of former Ash Ra Tempel colleague Manuel Göttsching featuring some excellent guitar work. This was the first album of Klaus Schulze recorded in the 90's that doesn't feature sampled noises or voices (like the infamous "you mean that's it"). It also pays some tribute to the music he recorded in the 70's ... He takes his time to slowly build atmospheres rather than combining different themes (like in the "Dome event"). If you have to take your 5 Schulze discs on an island, make sure "In blue" is one of them.

A serious musician and composer, December 2, 2005
This review is from: In Blue (Dlx) (Audio CD)
Schulze's work is often lumped in with the electronic trance offerings which pile up every month from infinitely less talented individuals, but to me he is much more than that.
I love his music. I find it energizing, stimulating, exciting, creative, unsettling -- the very opposite of so much synthesizer music from the past and the present. He deserves to be taken a lot more seriously, though he himself often seems to be content to be defined as producer of dance, chill-out and trance tracks for gilded youth. Yet the ghost of J.S. Bach can be seen dancing through these luminous passages.
Anyway, that apart, I only ever recommend music that I deeply enjoy and that I think others will enjoy, and "In Blue" is definitely a source of pleasure! Among my other favourites are the thrilling 2-part space fantasy "Trancefer" and the beautiful new album, "Moonlake."
Highly recommended to everybody who loves exciting music.
