About the Author

GEORGE RODRIGUE was born in New Iberia, in the heart of French Louisiana. For twenty-five years the artist painted scenes of Cajun life and culture, and many of those acclaimed works are now on display at the George Rodrigue Museum, Acadian Village, in Lafayette, Louisiana. The "Blue Dog" series, started in the mid-1980s, catapulted George Rodrigue to worldwide fame as the image of the original Cajun werewolf dog - loup-garou - has transformed into an international pop icon. Rodrigue owns and operates two galleries, in New Orleans and Carmel, California.

Mr. Rodrigue has done it again. "A Blue Dog Christmas" is not only filled with wonderful pictures of his newest Blue Dogs, but it is also a heartwarming story that brought back some of my own childhood holiday memories. It is a fantastic book for adults as well as children, good for bedtime reading.

I am a fan of the Blue Dog and bought this book to bring out every year at Christmas.

It is full of great art, and a nice story. Perfect for the family or a gift for others. It comes with a Christmas tree decoration of the Blue Dog that adds to the feel of the holiday spirit of the book.

Fans of the Blue Dog will love this, and maybe some new people thanks to this book can become fans at Christmas time. Excellent book.

I always thought the Blue Dog paintings by George Rodrigue were kind of goofy, but I liked them very much. Once I learned the story behind them, I liked them even more. We had brunch at the Blue Dog Café in Lafayette, LA the morning following Mr. Rodrigue's passing, having made our reservations there well beforehand. It was a very satisfying experience, celebrating his life. This is a good book - good thoughts and good pictures and a good legacy.

My twelve-year old granddaughter has loved "Blue Dog" for many years. She even won an award a few years back in her art class for her interpretation of the "Blue Dog." I gave her this book for Christmas this year, shortly after George Rodrigue died and she was so excited to receive it.

Blue Dog stuff will live as long as dog lovers continue to see their own dogs in him. Forever, I would imagine. Go to New Orleans and become part of the artwork that is the genesis of this gentle beast. No can go?

Then do as I do and go to Amazon for vicarious doggy time.

A timeless story for all ages that touches both your heart & soul. This spunky little dog can carry you through each year until its time to unpack Xmas decos & read all over again. While the ornament decorates the tree the poignant tale uplifts the sprit.
