5.0 out of 5 stars essential for any music enthusiast
This disc is very good. It's too bad that this Swiss group had two releases (only one charted), then disappeared. It was difficult trying to find the disc by group name OR album title. Most people remember the single CAPTAIN OF HER HEART. That was how I heard of them, but it took me so long to get the disc (big thanx to a friend).

3.0 out of 5 stars "Blue" features one of the most elegant songs to grace the ears BUT...
The obvious appeal for "Blue" stems from the dusky and melancholy tinged single "The Captain Of Her Heart". With its smooth jazz inflected arrangements and mellifluous textures, this is one of the warmest and well produced songs to hit the top 40 ever. It's a pure example of the best of what the smooth jazz genre has to offer.

Upon hearing this tune in the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Music that is timeless!!!, February 15, 2003

A hard to find album, but one that is worth all the search. The music is so sultry, subtle and truly melodious in every aspect. Always brings back memories of my high school graduation, which incidentally was played during the ball. Every time I listen to the famous hit "The Captain Of Her Heart" I dont want it to end. The music is so captivating and once in a lifetime piece of melody in its context. This is one song I simply love and will always love, as I keep it repeating on my CD drive. Wish I could hear more albums like this once more.

5.0 out of 5 stars My First Smooth Jazz Love, May 3, 2006
This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
More than any other artist or band, the team of Kurt Maloo and Felix Haug may be singlehandedly responsible for making me really fall in love with the "smooth jazz" format all over again in my adult years, during the Eighties when "Captain Of Her Heart" crossed over from Adult Contemporary to the top of the Pop charts. Many of my friends considered this snooze-inducing aural wallpaper, but for me it was a great way to decompress after a barrage of new wave, punk/funk, hair bands and whatever else was frenetically popular at the time.

Ever had someone nice give you a long foot massage after a hard day at work? BLUE gives you that exact same feeling, except for your ears. Well-crafted, catchy but not demanding fusion pop, with "Captain", "Rangoon Moon" and "Tomorrow" as mellow stand-outs. "Your Prayer Takes Me Off" is probably about as dance-driven as this album ever gets, but if you put it into your CD player, you're not looking for "Thriller" or "Love Is A Battlefield" to begin with. Put on your headphones, kick off your shoes and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE PERFECT BLEND OF JAZZ AND POP!!!!!!!!!, April 22, 2006

I rebember when "The Captain of Her Heart" just came out in mid eighties... It is undoubtly one of the greatest songs ever produced!!!!! I you wwere alive in the eighties, I am sure you heard this song 100 times. Getting it finnaly on cd is like meeting an old friend.

Those who are NOT familiar with this song will be carried away by its piano and rhythm... so smooth and cool... the perfect mixture of drums, piano, bass and synths.

Absolutely beautiful

But this record also has many precious tracks from this great somewhat-forgotten band. "Woman of the World" is one of the best and also "Tomorrow" and "Your Prayer Takes Me Off".

This is music to hear everywhere. I wonde what happened to this group. This album is such a great achievement!!!

And they are all great musicians!

This album is a must have.

If you really like the song "Captain of Her Heart" you love the other songs on this cd that unfortunately never got the airtime they deserved. Songs like Ragoon Moon, Woman of the World, etc. are just fresh and unique to say the least!! Cd worth every penny at any price!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous album that you've probably never heard, December 25, 2006
This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
Double (pronounced "Doo-blay" in this case) was an 80s new-wave pop duo that did manage to score one big hit with "The Captain Of Her Heart", a song you've doubtless heard if you've ever been in a mall, department store, or doctor's office. The rest of the album is pretty good too, with atmospheric, entrancing songs like "Rangoon Moon" and "Woman Of The World." Even though the duo is generally regarded as belonging to the rock/pop genre, "The Captain Of Her Heart" is a song that works equally well in a smooth jazz setting.

This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
Double Three is actually the second release of Double. Apparently found only in used CD stores, if at all. Is everybit as good if not better than Blue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid sound, April 7, 2006
This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
`Captain of Her Heart' was THE SONG of my pre-pubescence, and it still moves me as much as it did nearly 20 (yikes) years ago. I had the misfortune of seeing the video, which was an 80's-entrenched disservice to such a great song.

Anyway, this album is 85% great. The only song I detest is `your prayer takes me off'. The lyrics are silly, the music dated. Did the producer's son sneak a track on this otherwise fine record? `Urban Nomads' is cheesy too, but it's guilty pleasure-so out it's in. It amazes me that the team who wrote 'rangoon moon' and 'captain' are the same who wrote 'prayer' and 'nomads'. oh well--can't be brilliant all the time.

I love the lead singer's voice! Not a lot of range, but just right for the jazzy/pop sound of the music. He could read the phone book and I'd hang on every word. I hope these guys resurface someday.
