He is regarded as one of the most famous and respected composers in the video game community. This review is from: Blue Dragon: Original Sountrack (Audio CD)
Nobuo Uematsu has been around for years beginning with the original Final Fantasy on the NES. With the advent of next generation consoles, his music has taken a step in a new direction. The soundtrack for Blue Dragon is Uematsu's first full composition since the release of FFIX ost and it is well worth it and completely beautiful.

Uematsu makes full use of synthesizers, electric guitars, pianos, and other orchestral instruments to deliver a wonderfully composed masterpiece. I imported the Japanese release of this soundtrack because I wasn't thinking that I would see a release of it locally. Thanks to Sumthing Else, who has been releasing multiple microsoft game studios soundtracks we get to buy the soundtrack for a cheap 16$ compared to the japanese release which is around 35$ on most import sites. If you are a fan of Uematsu you should pick this up for your collection. Hopefully if this sells well enough we will see a US release of the Lost Odyssey soundtrack which is even better than this.
