3.0 out of 5 stars It's blue
It's a rather non-senscial song, but the beat is infectious. Great for parties or for times when you just want to get on up and dance -- badly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy Europop instead!, December 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
Everyone who knows of Eiffel 65 knows about Blue, but for the same price you can get the US release of their CD and get 2 versions of Blue, but best of all, you get 12 other tracks, including "Too much of Heaven", my new personal favorite track. These guys are definitely worth getting to know better, so buy the WHOLE cd- it's well worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A catchy, almost futuristic tune, March 14, 2000
By
"floridadude" (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews

The first time I heard this song, I immediately started dancing. It has a catchy melody and chorus. One thing that alarmed me was that the group uses a voice machine on all of their songs so they sound almost like robots. That's the futuristic part of it, but it suggests to me that maybe their real singing voices aren't very good and soon a terrible singer may hit it big because their real voice was disguised so no one knows the difference. This could put talented artist out of buiseness. If you like Blue (Da Ba Dee), I would suggest buying the CD single of it, because the other songs on their album "Europop" aren't as catchy as Blue (Da Ba Dee) and I think some people would only like that song and hate the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's not about depression!, January 30, 2000
By
This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
I love the 'Blue' song for the beat and the catchy chorus (piano sounds awesome)and the urge to get up and dance. The lyrics are simple but I want to convey something I learned about the meaning of the song that most people don't know. Eiffel 65 was interviewed on TV and the lead singer clarified that the song wasn't about being depressed but rather it focused on that point in your life when one word or object symbolizes you and what you are and what you hope to become. For our vocoder artist it's the color blue. It's not about depression at all and who ever said he sings "I will deed, I will die" in the chorus is way confused. This song is simple and yet it does have a meaning that you may not understand the first couple times you hear it. It doesn't convey a single depressing message. Just thought I'd clear things up. I'll bet even the people that hate this song have the chorus running through their heads. The hook to this song is great and the radios can play it as much as they want to, in my opinion. 'Blue'is best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eiffel 65, November 30, 1999
I just thought that everyone should know a little bit more about the band itself. I myself am Italian and spent the summer in Italy and I know them quite well. The Eiffel 65 are: Gianfranco Randone- vocalist, Maurizio Lobina-musician, and Gabriele Ponte- DJ. All three are Italian and produce out of the Northern-Italian city of Turin (Torino) where I believe they live. The song "Blue" was created for the Italian dance music market, which is economically strong, and is very important in Italy because of the demand for this type of music especially during the summer season. I have seen them live on Italian television and am quite positive they were not expecting the level of success they have reached. Originally, they weren't even sure if the song would gain fame in Italy, but with time it spread to the rest of Europe and it now seems to have reached the US. I enjoyed this song all summer long in Italy, and can honestly say I was extremely surprised to hear it on American radio stations, probably because its the first time I've ever heard one of the Italian dance songs I listen to in Italy, here in the United States.

5.0 out of 5 stars it grows on you, February 8, 2000
This review is from: Blue (Audio CD)
I hated this song when I first heard it on the radio, but now I can't stop listening to it! I love the fast beat and the little voice synthesizer thingy. it is great to dance to, but for the price of the single you could just buy their CD Eurobeat, which has Blue and a lot of other cool songs. cool and I recommend other people buy it. for the other schmoes who can't spell and who think others are stupid for listening to this song, I have a degree in Aerospace Engineering and I love it, so there!

I love this song so much! The lyrics are pretty funny, it has a good beat, it has a catchy chorus, and it is one of my favorites. I recommend this CD and I think you'll really like it. It makes an excellent gift idea. To get a sample, go to Eiffel 65's "Europop" and look under sample songs.
