Better than Old Blue Eyes
I've known JD for about 25 years, so I'm a little biased. He's always had a terrific voice and incredible range. He makes his songs sound easy. He recently gave me a copy of this CD and I've been playing it in my vehicle. JD takes Sinatra's songs and does his best to sound like Old Blue Eyes, but he falls short. He sounds better! If you like Sinatra's tunes, you'll...

Old Blue Eyes? Why would anybody even try?
OK, I love this guys singing. There are underated singers and undiscovered singers. American Idol is discovering some of the undiscovereds, but there are still a lot out there who are worth listening to but who have the disadvantage of being over 30 years of age and are performing music that does not appeal to the under 30 set. J.D. Cash is one of those undiscovereds that...

Old Blue Eyes? Why would anybody even try?, May 13, 2005

OK, I love this guys singing. There are underated singers and undiscovered singers. American Idol is discovering some of the undiscovereds, but there are still a lot out there who are worth listening to but who have the disadvantage of being over 30 years of age and are performing music that does not appeal to the under 30 set. J.D. Cash is one of those undiscovereds that really deserves to be discovered. However, this isn't the CD you want to be discovering him with. First, despite how good J.D. Cash is, why would you want to buy a CD with interpretations of songs that the Chairman of the Board himself has made his own? Now, somebody like Bobby Darin may have been up to the challenge, but even though Darin flirted with the idea by recording some of Frank Sinatra's songs and arguably singing them better than Sinatra, he never went all the way by recording a full album of Sinatra's songs. While J.D. Cash does a commendable job with the songs, Frank Sinatra greatist hits compilations are easy to come by, are cheaper, and with all due respect to J.D., are better. My suggestion is to buy J.D. Cash's Summer Place CD first. On that CD J.D. has created something valuable to add to the music world. Then, when you feel you just want to get a bit more of this guy's wonderful voice, buy this CD.
