I appreciate when a recipe book does not utilize simplistic instructions, however this one goes to the opposite extreme. It does have quite a few recipes in it, but unlike its predecessor versions the "amount of time for cooking" information simply doesn't exist. Could be 20 minutes cooking time, could be 40, you just don't know unless you go find another source for that information. It is sad how many times I have to consult my manual(you know the one that comes with the pressure cooker that few use?) to see if it hopefully has a similar recipe in there so I can see just how much total process time I'm looking at. "Cook until its done" is just NOT enough information!

I had the hardest time locating a simple recipe for Raspberry Perserves that would be easy and wouldn't be labor intense and time consuming. The Blue Book had exactly what I was looking for!

I have had one of these for many years, and bought one just recently as a gift. This is my go to guide for everything canning. I also like the fact they show recipes using the finished products too. The only thing to be careful of is some recipes include a pressure canning AND water bath canning method - but they are located in different sections of the book. So you just have to be sure to read to the end of the recipe and see which method is being used.

Good basic info that I will keep forever.
Compared to numerous other books I've seen on preserving, this Blue Book Guide is comprehensive and covers a broad spectrum sufficiently to be a keeper.
