Excellent compilation of jazz blues, February 9, 2008

This is not, as you might expect from the title, a blues guitar compilation. Rather, it's a compilation of jazz guitarists playing jazz blues. If you're not sure what the difference is and you're not into jazz, this might not be the album for you. But if you're interested in learning more about jazz, or you're already into jazz and want a good overview of jazz guitar, you couldn't find a better introduction. It's got everything a great compilation should: every track is an absolute killer, and it will turn you on to artists you've never heard of before. It also covers a wide range of eras and styles: from the early swing work of Charlie Christian and T-Bone Walker, through the bop of Kenny Burrell, to the modern stylings of Stanley Jordan and John Scofield. This is a disc you should not think twice about purchasing.
