5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bluegrass ever
This is the best group ever, and you think there good on the cd, check out their concerts. This cd does not have their original banjo player, but the guy they replaced him with is phenominal. If you like dobro or any slide guitar you love this group and cd. Every one of the musicians is amazing, and man can these boys sing. I believe this is the only album with this banjo...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed....
I'm not really fond of this CD. Personally, I wouldn't reccomend it. Buy Dolly Parton's "The Grass Is Blue" instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good But, May 14, 2002

Unfortunately a band of the caliber of Blue Highway is held to very high expectations. While this CD was very good it fell short of exceptional, can you call that a let down? I'm not sure that would be the correct term.

With highlights like "Born With A Hammer In My Hand", "Troubles Up And down The Road" and "That Could Be You" this Cd does hit chords. And who would expect a cover of a Sting song? "I Hung My Head" is a great song that Blue Highway adapts very well to bluegrass. Also thrown in the mix are great covers such as "Man Of Constant Sorrow".

This CD is very good and if you like Blue Highway you will enjoy it. But if you do not know Blue Highway I would suggest "Wind To The West", "It's a Long Long Road", or "Midnight Storm" as a better introduction.

I believe this is the only album with this banjo player, the old one returned for their latest album, which is also amazing, just came out a couple days ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine effort by a bluegrass band in top form., July 29, 1999

Each Blue Highway CD seems to improve on a previous excellent effort, and this one is no exception. The vocals are truly exceptional--guaranteed to make the hair stand up on your neck. It's a joy to listen to a band in top form. Some of the songs here are new, some are classics; but all are worth a listen. If your tastes run to traditional bluegrass like mine, this CD will rapidly become one of your favorites.

Another big hit for "BLUE HIGHWAY". Along with the help of Skaggs recording, this is a top notch bluegrass album. I highly recommend it to any bluegrass music lover.

4.0 out of 5 stars Double fisted good!, August 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue Highway (Audio CD)
This CD is yet another fantastic effort for one of the best Groups in bluegrass music. The memorable moments come with "man of constant sorrow" and "I am near the gate". The only downfall is the anoying percussion on "Clay and Ottie". It shows that there is no need for extra rhythm in a band as good as Bue Highway.
