Rainy day. In London (surprise, surprise). What to do but go into a record store and see this CD being heavily promoted at the front of the store. Put on the headphones and Lauren's songs - whimsical but confident - took the dampness out of my brain. Rathing than paying extortionate UK prices, I thought I'd buy the CD back in Washington DC, given her Charlottsville, VA contact address. Only to find she hard to come buy and available on import only. Pity - home grown talent like this deserves to be heard more widely. Getting bored of endlessly replaying your Beth Orton, Lucinda Williams, Cheryl Crow and Sophie Hawkins? Theng give this recording a listen.
