More About the Author

Texas native, Keisha Mennefee, has thrilled audiences with creative works since her youth when a love affair with literature first began. "I've always been a vivid dreamer and creative thinker with a colorful imagination. Books allowed me to escape to another place. I loved them so much as a kid that I volunteered much of my time at the library." After high school, Keisha explored other lines of work including stints in the renewable energy field and corporate marketing sector. But her love of writing was never far from the surface and over the years, Keisha held freelance writer, columnist, feature and sports writing positions at some of the most prestigious media outlets in the country including the Sterling McFadden Group, the Journal Register Corporation and the Associated Press.

While continuing to freelance, Keisha discovered another passion: music. Beginning as an intern for recording artists, Boyz II Men, Keisha went on to hold a variety of positions in the industry working with top names such as Brandy, Pink, Vanessa Williams, Patti LaBelle and Will Smith. Never one to walk away from a golden opportunity, Keisha left the music business to work in sports management and marketing working with some of the biggest names in sports including Allen Iverson, Malik Rose and Vince Carter. Despite her success in these arenas, Keisha always felt an internal call back to writing. "One day, I realized that I couldn't tell my children to 'always follow your dreams' if I wasn't prepared to do the same. I sat down and wrote the first chapter of Blue Interlude that day."

Between writing and taking care of her family, Keisha travels across the country speaking at events geared toward aspiring writers, single mothers, at-risk youth and anyone who can benefit from hearing her message. "I feel a responsibility to share my struggles and triumphs with others so that they can learn from my mistakes and profit from my experience.'

Keisha currently resides in the Greater Philadelphia area with her four children. To learn more, please visit her website at www.keishamennefee.com.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Sacrifice, July 22, 2010

This review is from: Blue Interlude (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
Tara Russell started her singing career as a member of a trio with her sisters, as her music career blossomed the trio disbanded. Tara sacrificed family, friends and love to become a mega star. She lives with the cost for years and has decided to make amends. A ten year old secret she's harbored may be more difficult to correct than she first believed. The only friend she has is Quinton Ellis, a successful music producer, whom she collaborates with frequently. With his continuous support, she begins making amends. She soon realizes that Quinton may have been her ultimate sacrifice.

BLUE INTERLUDE is the debut romance by Keisha Mennefee. It's a love story of how your true love may be in front of you all along. Even though Ms. Mennefee delivered a romantic and suspenseful plot, about halfway through the plot became dull and predictable, because of this I struggled to finish reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blue Interlude, February 8, 2011

This review is from: Blue Interlude (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed Tara and Quinton's story. I liked that they were "friends first" and that even as self-involved as these two were, that they were (pretty much) there for each other despite all of the issues they were dealing with. I would have liked a little more detail on a couple of characters but, overall - a pretty good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fame and Love, August 2, 2010

This review is from: Blue Interlude (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this story. This was a refreshing tale of what people give up for fame and fortune. This story shows you money truly cannot buy happiness. Tara, the lead character in the story is forced into the limelight by her father. Originally in a group with her stepsisters, her father made her go solo. Trying to please her father and make a living for her sisters, Tara gives up too much of herself and a child. Forced to make life decisions based on family betrayal, Tara goes on hiatus to find the son she gave up. Along the way, she learns humility, forgiveness and finds love. Q, her best friend and love interest in the story the perfect flawed hero. I found myself really drawn to him. This is an awesome first book for this author. I will be looking for her future work.
