4.0 out of 5 stars not the best, but not bad
this band is great. and simple, and pleasant, and easy, and smooth, and engaging, and sometimes exciting. by the time this record rolled around, they had already dropped their masterpiece, ORLEANS PARISH. this one had no hope of topping it, but it's good in and of itself. and we have to love it, because from what i've heard, they've called it quits and this will be the...

This review is from: The Blue Law (MP3 Download)
At first listen, I was not overly impressed with this album. It sounded like a midwest 90's emo band who just discovered Death Cab for Cutie. But after a few listens, I really started to enjoy this album. The singers quirky voice grows on you, and there are lots of little textured guitar and percussion tracks that make each track stand out. I think the track Blue Law is my personal favorite but Albert Hall, Crash and Black Star and Goodbye are stand out tracks. The production is very good and songs are full of suprises. This is a really great summer driving album. If you like Death Cab and bands like Braid this will probably appeal to you as well.
