Mark is described as "old school" and that's exactly true. This book portrays Mark exactly as he is in real life. I have had many encounters with Mark over the years. Mark has a unique way of entering a situation and immediately know how to handle the people involved. He does actually knows a lot about his community and the people in it. Mark has gone out of his way for me personally, when I just needed somebody helpful not critical. Mark can defuse a bad situation with a simple conversation. Mark isn't the type of cop that just wants to degrade your intelligence and embarrass you, He is a real man who takes people more seriously than his job. I couldn't wait to get this book, it's a quick easy read & accurately displays the type of small town, caring man he is. Thank you Mark for all of your good years of service!

I read this book cover to cover in one night!!! And when I finally went to bed and calmed down enough to fall asleep, I had dreams of riding in Mark's cruiser chasing bad guys all night!! Mark writes in such a way that he is talking directly to you and letting you in on what is going on inside his head as he make his arrests and captures wanted criminals. He shares many scary moments but funny ones as well. I laughed out loud at some of his situations and the comments he makes!!! This book will definitely get your adrenaline pumping!!! I highly recommend this book to all ages. I also want to commend Mark on getting the hundreds of drunk drivers off our roadways. Way to go Mark!!!

Having had the opportunity to share a lot of quality time patrolling with Maine State Trooper, Mark Nickerson, I can assure you, that we could not make this stuff up.
Mark's book, Blue Lights in the Night" is a great read. Overall it tells of his dedication and loyalty to the Maine State Police. Teh stories within are not all cops and robbers, gloom and doom.
We both learned you have to share the good and the bad together but we tried to basically recall only the good times. We certainly had plenty of them. Great suggested reading..

I loved this book, all police officers will greatly appreciate this read and for the regular citizens they will get a lot of smiles and of course some tears. This book truly shows what law enforcement deals with on a everyday basis.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mark (and his buddy John Ford) at the Ancient Ones show in Augusta, which prompted me to buy the book.

I had a pleasant afternoon drinking in the flavor of Maine. The book is well written, being both poignant and funny. I look forward to a sequel.

This is another good read written by a retired LEO. Mark was willing to let us into his feelings about some of the calls he answered. It is always interesting to see how an LEO thinks. Good book to curl up with on a cold winter night.
