The Sunscreen Expert,

This review is from: Blue Lizard Australian Suncream, Baby, SPF 30+, 8.75-Ounces (Health and Beauty)
All I have to add to early comments are a few words on water resistance. The standard Blue Lizard formula advertises it is water resistant for 240 minutes. This stuff is not, even though I see the same claim made for it on some web sites. Chemical sunscreens, which are in the standard Blue Lizard, are absorbed into the skin, which makes them more water resistant. The ingredients in Baby, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, sit on top of the skin and are more easily washed off. I sent a note to the Blue Lizard people who confirmed this. So be careful about reapplying this more frequently if you or your kids get wet. Unfortunately, we learned the hard way with our 8-year-old.

Great for really sunny areas,
This review is from: Blue Lizard Australian Suncream, Baby, SPF 30+, 8.75-Ounces (Health and Beauty)
We spent the summer on the beach in Southern Africa. Coppertone was not strong enough and the kids started to color after 30 min in sun (at least the parts not covered by Rashies and hats). This product is great and after the entire summer the kids were still white. My kids also break out with other brands and this did not happen with Blue Lizard (adult and baby formulas both). I used it too and it was the only thing that prevented me (a very pale person) from burning..and I used several other top brands 45spf too. Worth the expense!

Even though normally I'd hate paying this much for a bottle of sunscreen, with this product it's worth it. My daughter has a terribly sensitive skin; she can't go without sunscreen, but she also has a bad reaction to most types I've tried this summer - except for this one. I've tried it on our pediatrician's recommendation, and so far, it works just great.

Best sunscreen!,
This review is from: Blue Lizard Australian Suncream, Baby, SPF 30+, 8.75-Ounces (Health and Beauty)
This sunscreen is a great product. It provides TRUE full spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
Most sunscreens provide only partial UVA protection. Worse, they contain chemicals that are now being scrutinized because many scientific studies demonstrate that the chemicals themselves may be harmful to the skin! This product contains micronized zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. The product dries clear on your skin, and effectively reflects the sun's rays. When you can't avoid the sun and/or cover up adequately, Blue Lizard Baby Australian Suncream is a great choice for sun protection.

I bought this product because it was recommended to my by my dermatologist. She actually recommended the Blue Lizard Baby for me, an adult. The baby lotion is strong enough for adults, but sensitive for babies so that it makes a GREAT sunblock for EVERYONE. Since the baby formula is for sensitive skin it is even safe enough to wear on the face without having to buy additonal 'face' sunscreens. No problems with leaking bottles nor with it being too thick.

Hands down the BEST sunscreen for sensitive skin,

After moving to the sunny South, I visited my dermatologist for a recommendation of sunscreen to use on a daily basis. My family has a history of skin cancer, and I was determined not to follow in those footsteps. I am very fair skinned, as is my 5 year-old son. We also have very sensitive skin that is irritated by every chemical sunscreen we have tried. I was a bit skeptical, even with the dermatologist recommendation, because it seemed to me that such products would be readily used by the public at large. None of my local stores carry it. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
My son and I use this every day after a shower, then reapply later in the day as needed. There is no scent. It is a bit difficult to spread, but goes on with only a little effort. Neither of us had any reaction to Blue Lizard, Baby. It has definitely helped me cut my sun exposure, as evidenced by the lack of tan (more like freckle) lines from my shirt sleeves - usually a byproduct of the sun shining through my windows on my 30 minute daily commute. One thing to consider: I do take a shower in the evening and use a good moisturizer. I noticed that my skin was a bit drier using Blue Lizard daily, but a little extra moisturizer in the evening eliminated the issue. Healthy skin is worth it!

I saw this recommended on 20/20 and decided to give it a try. I've tried all the expensive sunsdreen and this has been by far the best. It doesn't have that sunscreen smell and goes on quite smoothly and easily on my children's body. Truely worth every penny. I also love that the bottle turns pink whenever there's UV rays, good indication that my children need some on them.

I bought this product as it is safer than the lotions that absorb chemicals into the skin. A word of caution, this is not a typical lotion that goes on smoothly... it is meant to sit on the skin so does have a bit different texture to it. My son's skin is very sensitive and this did not cause any issues. He was in the sun a TON last summer and never had an issue with sunburn. I reapply every hour to be on the safe side.

Seems to work well. Not sure if it is supposed to rub in all the way or not (physical not chemical barrier), it will with a little work. Has little smell. Still, it is pricy. I only use it on the baby and go with regular baby sunscreen on the toddler.
