Living in Florida I need all the sun protection I can get. Even kayaking I find I never burn. It does take a little rubbing in to make it disappear but it's well worth it. Make up can be applied once it dries. It's been about 4 years that I have used Blue Lizard.

Why add chemicals when the purpose of the sunscreen is to protect one from any harm. To add salt to the injury, this a company where their CEO goes around Hawaii's kindergartens in the name of educating kids about sunscreen while promoting Blue Lizard but yet Blue Lizard would not disclose ingredients of their sunscreens on their website at all. Someone in Hawaii's government is surly enjoying the fruits of his/her work alright. I wonder why anyone in Hawaii has never addressed this issue...

READ INGREDIENTS. THE HIGHER THE ZINC, THE MORE PROTECTION.

Zinc Oxide is a physical sunscreen rather than a chemical one, blocks both UVA (320-400 nm) and UVB (280-320 nm) rays of ultraviolet light. Chemical sunscreens are less effective and carry unnecessary health risks. ZO is insoluble in water, used in many industries, in ointments, creams and lotions. Non-irritating, non-allergenic and non-comedogenic, used by athletes as a bandage to prevent soft tissue damage during workouts. ZO must be NON NANO / UNCOATED UPS -2 ZO which has a mean particle size greater than 30nm, when applied to the skin do not get absorbed into the body, do not enter the bloodstream, and are not a threat to human health.

SPF is a measure of how much longer someone will be protected from UVB rays than someone wearing no cream. If the sun reddens unprotected skin in ten minutes, for example, a person wearing SPF15 can be exposed to the sun without reddening for 15 times longer - 150 minutes. While UVB rays are behind the redness of sunburn, UVA rays damage the skin's DNA at a deeper layer. Both radiation types can cause skin cancer. The EU recommendation is for sunscreens to offer a UVA protection factor that is a third of their SPF.

Blue Lizard Face SPF 30 is the first broad spectrum sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my face which has a tendency toward rosacea. Yes it is thicker than conventional lotions but is easy to apply. (I only use it on my face, a problem area for me.) It does make your face appear white at first. However, following the directions and waiting the 15 minutes before going outside, most of the lotion will dissolve into the skin and you look fine, a little pale. Depending on the day, I have applied makeup on top of the lotion but only after waiting the 15 minutes as my dermatologist suggested. Following Dr’s suggestions I only apply anything, including this sunscreen 15 minutes after washing my face because of the rosacea. The expiration date stamped on the bottle was 06/2016, so the product was freshly made. I used this daily now over a month under the Florida sun and feel my skin is in better condition. I will buy it again.

This is a great Sunscreen and my face does not break out from it. That was the main reason for spending the higher price for sunscreen and it is worth it.

I went to a dermatologist who asked me what sunscreen I was using. I told him "Blue Lizard" and he said, "Good." He then gave me a list of recommended sunscreen lotions and "Blue Lizard" was on the list. I've been using it for a few years and I feel, even with my sun sensitive screen, confident with the product. We have lots of sunshine in New Mexico so I wanted only the best I could find so I've continued using it. FYI; My dermatologist advised not using a moisturizer at the same time as any sunscreen but rather, use moisturizers at night and the Blue Lizard in the morning before going out.
