More About the Author

USA Today bestselling author M.J. Field's love of writing was in full swing by age eight. Together with her cousins, she wrote a newsletter and sold it for ten cents to family members.

Her writing has changed a bit. Instead of updating the 'Fields' family, she writes highly emotional and ... steamy romance novels. Her stories are full of authentic, raw, and gritty alpha male characters and the women they fall for. There always seems to be humor and a strong focus on family intertwined.

She self-published her first contemporary romance in January 2013. Today she has completed six self-published series, The Love Series, The Wrapped Series, The Burning Souls Series, The Men of Steel Series, Ties of Steel Series, and The Norfolk series. Rockers of Steel book 1 Memphis Black is available now, and book 2 Finn Beckett will be available November 13th, 2015.

MJ is a hybrid author who publishes an Indie book almost every month, and is signed with a traditional publisher, Loveswept, Penguin Random House, for her co-written series The Caldwell Brothers. Hendrix is available now, Morrison will be released on December 1st, 2015.

MJ lives in central New York, surrounded by family and friends. Her house is full of pets, friends, and noise ninety percent of the time, and she would have it no other way.

MJ is represented by Marissa Corvisiero at http://www.corvisieroagency.com/.

First things first. If you read this book, you'll spend 400+ pages with these characters and end with a total cliffhanger. Some readers are okay with that, but since it isn't clear from the item description that you will have to pay to get an end to the story, I wanted to point that out.

Apparently this book is an early work by the author and parts of the work make that clear. The editing is pretty poor -- non-standard punctuation, some unusual formatting choices (like having the character sign their name after every text -- not something I've ever seen happen in real life), and factual errors (attributing songs to the wrong band). The editing is so bad that I couldn't really recommend this book to anyone.

This is the story of Tessa and Lucas. Tessa and Lucas are both high school seniors. Budget cuts have caused redistricting and so they meet for the first time their senior year. In keeping with well-established YA tradition, Tessa is apparently beautiful, but nobody has ever noticed before Lucas notices her. He quickly decides that he has to have her, despite the fact that she is rude to him. Tessa is this weird mix of virginal and straight-up crazy. When she isn't protecting her precious flower of womanhood, she's drinking like a sailor on shore leave (in one scene, she drinks an entire bottle of wine in a manner of minutes) and tearing her shirt off. As her relationship with Lucas progresses, she gets crazier and crazier -- sassing her grandmother (who only appears for a single scene, apparently so Tessa can get slapped in the face), making out with near-strangers, puking in ditches, and cat-fighting with pregnant rivals.

Holy Wow, this is an emotional read.

Tessa's family lives on a farm. Her parents have been having problems, but she's wondering if it's all starting to end. Her mom is cleaning out the house and it's like a bad omen. She's just waiting for the divorce talk. This is supposed to be a great year for her, but with taking care of her younger siblings and the entire house, how can she focus on anything? When she meets Lucas, he's just like the other white hats....Nice to look at, but that's it. She's not the type to fawn over a man.

Lucas is the star quarterback in a school that has just merged. He has a dark past and is from a family who is too wrapped up in themselves to give a damn about him. Living with his mother who is an alcoholic, drug user, and promiscuous, he has picked up her habits. When he sees Tessa, he's immediately taken by her. Funny thing is, she's the one girl who hasn't fallen at his feet. Now begins a very long and difficult web of emotional pains.

For Tessa, as if dealing with a first boyfriend, a parental divorce, and raging hormones isn't enough, she has multiple run-ins with the girls of Lucas's past. Some more ugly than others, but all leave a little cut that will lead to a big scar in the relationship. How does a good church going girl deal with girls of loose morals and boyfriend who is trying to get on the right path?

This book was hard to put down. You knew inevitably that Lucas was going to do something to screw up and that Tessa would fall apart and try to fix him. This is the basis for their ENTIRE relationship. The only other thing they have going is a very steamy sexual attraction to each other. It was hard to read Lucas making the same mistakes and Tessa trying to help him, when she's falling apart.

This book is horribly written and was too hard to follow. Which is too bad because the story had promise.

I usually do not leave reviews, but this book blew and not in a good way! I made my self finish and the book never ended! It reads like an essay. no depth, seriously she is 18 but the author makes her seem a lot younger. And how many times is the love of your life, after like two months, gonna mess up with some other girl! I would not waste your time on this book

The POV changes quickly in this book and can be hard to keep up with at times. Finally gave up on trying to finish the book.

I chose this book because the summary made it sound really interesting, and I was looking forward to reading it. But the editing (or lack thereof) was so bad, I didn't get further than a few chapters in. Usually this doesn't bother me--if the story is good enough, I will simply gloss over the errors and muddle through. (Hey, nobody's perfect.) But this book just had too many, to the point where they became so distracting, I no longer cared about the story; again, that was only a few chapters in! So disappointed.....

I am absolutely perplexed by this book! It started off really rocky...too many characters & too many situations to keep up with. About midway, I started really getting into the story. I have mixed feelings about it which is why I only rated 3 stars. It could have been SO MUCH BETTER had it been properly edited. The grammatical errors & misspelled words were so hard to bare. This caused me to slow down reading just so I could figure out what the author meant.
