Just Like the Real Thing, Boring.,

This review is from: Blue Marlin (Video Game)
Blue Marlin looks like a cool game at first but gets boring after the routine is set in. Pretty much, in the beginning, you want to work on non-sailfish types to increase muscle power and body strength. I honestly have no idea how to increase skill, but I beat the entire game without ever increasing it. After you do sharks (yes, they can be hauled in easy, and they are cool to catch), dorados, barracudas, etc. for the sake of working on two main needs, you have to start cutting the lines for the rest of the game because the point of the game is bagging marlins, no exceptions. Mainly, you have to focus on finding marlins, which means a lot of boating around for a long period of time, which adds to the boredom of the game...big time. Now, despite what a lot of people think, finding marlins is quite easy. What you should do is: whenever you see a school of fish, drive the boat right side by of it and let the hook be behind the school, waiting for the marlin to appear. That's pretty much it. Same thing goes for the big whale. Now, what is the proper set up for a fishing pole? Simple, select 160 lb, 100 ft, live L, and 60 ft depth. I have to say, it's quite nearly impossible to work with 200 ft on a marlin. I tried, but I can't do it due to the annoying snaps of the line after 100 ft of work. There are four rounds in the game: Florida, Hawaii 1, Hawaii 2, and jeez...Hawaii 3 (can we have some variation in here, please?). The minimum requirement to win each round, in my opinion, are: 500 lbs, 600 lb, 700 lb, and 900 lb respectively. In three out of four rounds, I've bagged a half-ton blue marlin and skated my way to victory, which makes the game not so hard to beat. All in all, Blue Marlin is a boring game that requires a lot of endlessly repeated routines to catch the marlins you need and win.
