5.0 out of 5 stars Blue Max Wheel Kit for 4000 Watt Gen
After a minor adjustment to the axle mounting brackets (bend the brackets by installing the Ubolt and nuts and tighten until the axle mount bracket bends enough to allow space for the top black bracket) this wheel kit works fine for my Chicago 7-hp/3500W gas gen from Harbor Freight.

I purchased the wheel kit that was supposed to be for the "4000 Watt Generator" but it has some problems.

First of all, the instructions that come with it for assembly are a very poor English translation from Chinese. They are unreadable, make no sense, and therefore useless. Second of all, there was no inventory of parts that matched the parts included in the kit...and you had to try to figure out which bolts and nuts were supposed to go where on your own. Thirdly, several pieces of the hardware were missing. Fourthly, the U-bolts weren't long enough to extend far enough around the braces to attach the shackles, and therefore you had to bend the shackles in order to attach them with the nuts provided. The U-bolt threads had a heavy coat of paint on them, and the nuts wouldn't thread without using a wire brush to scour the threads free of the paint.
and Fifth...the handle wasn't designed for the frame of the generator, and so attaching it randomly leaves an awkward solution to moving it.

Other than those problems, with about two hours of re-engineering and improvising...it's possible to have wheels on the generator with that kit...and a few spare pieces of hardware you might have around your shop.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't fit ETQ PG30P11, July 20, 2010

This review is from: Blue Max GENWK4 Wheel Kit For GEN4000B Generator (Lawn & Patio)
This was shown as what people bought for the ETQ PG30P11 generator. I guess those people were just as misled as I was. This kit doesn't fit! The screw holes are too small, the axle is on the wrong side, and so on and on and on.... And the instructions (in Chinglish)are worse than useless. The components looked to be of reasonable quality, tho useless.

I just ordered (2010 July 20)a wheel kit directly from ETQ for $29.95 + shipping ($5-$10). We'll see how that works and let you know.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy installation!, November 17, 2008

I read a lot of negative comments before I purchased the wheel kit about installation woes. If you have a little mechanical ability and some clamps this was a fairly simple assembly (20 Min.)The only thing I didn't like were the poor instructions and the handle clamping mechanism started slipping the first time I pull it around over rough terrain. I have to re-tighten the bolts and quite possibly weld it permenantly in place. Otherwise a good product for the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Setup Directions a Nightmare, January 7, 2008

I got it setup and working, but I would recommend not even using the directions and just applying common sense. The directions are virtually non-intelligible and the nuts and bolts were very poor quality, easily stripping. I ended up using parts I already had from the hardware store.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wheel kit, February 5, 2011

This kit was not for my generator, (All Power #APG 3012) but did work. Had to add washers to front legs to make generator level but for the money an ok product. Typical "Made in China" quality, one mounting plate missing but did work without it. Not worth sending for a replacement.

The axle was not long enough for our application so we had to make a few modifications, but other than that is was fine and will work well for us.

I purchased the wheel kit to use as a retro-fit on another type generator and it worked ok. However the nuts, bolts, etc. where cheap and metric so I end up changing several of them out as well as a coupe other alterations, some related to the retro-fit some not.

I have a progen 5000 watt gen which of course I had to drag around , this kit worked well, and was cheaper than building my own. Do wish the wheels were larger.
We had to drill thru the generators frame and the screws were too short most of the time. TheProgen has a square frame so that was a pain, the rod for the wheels was too short and we had to modify that, but all in all it worked and now I can roll this bad boy in and out of the garage without giving myself a hernia.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great., February 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Blue Max GENWK4 Wheel Kit For GEN4000B Generator (Lawn & Patio)
I have a Sportsman generator, not a Blue Max, which did not come with wheels. This kit did the trick! It definitely is easier to move now, rather than carrying a 125 pound piece of equiment around. With that being said, this was not the easiest install. The screws for the feet have a powder coating on them which made the nut very difficult to put on the screw. I definitely recommend trying to get the screw into the nut before you put it on the generator. This will tear off some of the powder coating on the threads and make it much easier to install on the generator. Also, the directions are almost useless as they are extremely difficult to understand. However with some mechanical ability and the ability to read a diagram, you should not have any problems.
