The poetry and prose really made me think about life and purposes. So many of us go about our work-a-day worlds like machines, without connecting to our emotions. This issue, which I found only because it was the last book on the Anthology Shelf in my local bookstore, was incredible. Please take the time to read it and savor the words. It inspired me to want to become a writer, although I know I probably don't have the talent for it.

The best thing about Blue Mesa Review is the poetry. What's lacking in the fiction is a sense of how to tell a good story in the literary sense, that is, an ending that blows off the top of your head. Still, an interesting read.

I am impressed with this anthology's editorial style, particularly its editors' interest in writers out of the mainstream. I suspect that a few writers will trickle out into the mainstream in the near future. But for now, this book has filled a major void in this region. I salute the writers, their craft, and the words so carefully chosen in Blue Mesa Review.
