The Definitive Bluegrass Photo Book!, January 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue Moon of Kentucky: A Journey into the World of Bluegrass and Country Music As Seen Through the Camera Lens of Photo-Journalist Les Leverett (Paperback)
Les Leverett, former Grand Ole Opry photographer, gives us a window into the world of bluegrass and traditional country music as no one else has. Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers, Jim & Jesse, Jimmie Martin--they're all here, along with Opry stars like Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff, members of the Carter Family, and more.
This collection of black and white photos, covering a span of several decades, captures historic moments that are sometimes poignant, sometimes humorous, and often surprising. (Who knew, for example, that Johnny Cash and Louis Armstrong ever played together?) No photo manipulation or tricks here--these are the real thing! This paperback book deserves to be reissued as a deluxe, hardcover collectible.
