Editorial Reviews

Nothing is out of bounds in the first season of this SPIKE original comedy. At the center of the action are the Blue Mountain State Goats, the team with the nastiest sacks in all of college football. With a freshman lineup that includes a backup quarterback who’d rather party than play, a star running back who can’t score with the ladies, and a team mascot who redefines ”personal foul,” will they be able to juggle football, girls, class and nonstop hazing? Blue Mountain State: Season One is the rudest, dirtiest comedy to ever hit the field.

I normally don't get into shows that are vulgar, but this show is absolutely hiliarous.

Darin Brooks stars as backup qb Alex Moran. He's perfectly content sitting on the bench because all he wants to do in college is drink beer and chase women. Sam Jones III co-stars as Shilo, the star of the team, who is whipped by his overbearing girlfriend.

But the standout of the show is Alan Ritchson as Thad Castle. A testosteroned freak who gives everything he has to the team, all while driving the team crazy or beating them up.

There are things said and done on this show that I never thought would be allowed on basic cable. It's def a guy show. As I said, I'm pretty much a prude at times but I lol at every episode of this show. It's crazy fun.

This is a great show. Its very man-centric but I'm a girl and I love it. I can't believe they get away with airing some of this stuff on TV. What else can I say? If you're looking for a new comedy give this a whirl.

State is college football-themed sitcom with low standards of Humorously coarse R-rated comedies out there.it is easily comparable to date movie,American pie,Dirty shame..etc.This show is so distinctively raunchy and over the top. it makes standard prime time shows as two and half men look like positively angelic.Only negative about this disc is, it isn`t unrated version it`ll more fun if it was but it is absolute guys movie where you can laugh and cheer.Don`t attempt to watch it with your GF .As later one you`ll be emotionally black mailed .There isn`t much football its just in background of story and thats good thing .Jokes and punch lines are perfect .Ladies are beautiful and acting is top notch by most of cast.Looking forward to season two.

In my opinion, this is one of the funniest shows on TV! The season is put on two DVDs and both play flawlessly. The show itself just may be the best thing that happened to television! ...or the worst. Regardless, great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who can stand college humor!

I love the American Pie movies (well, the first 6 at least). This show is American Pie in a tv show. I am in college so I can also relate. Anyone who loves raunchy, yet creative humor, you will LOVE this show. I can't get enough of it.

I watched the first episode of BMS at the urging of one of my best friends... and was more grossed out than entertained. I forced myself to watch episode 2 and 3 based solely on the enthusiastic suggestion of said friend. Everything began to really make sense around the time Alex was receiving oral sex while driving a Lamborghini and Thad was terrorizing EVERYONE in search of his "jack-aide"; this is a show composed of jokes that college-aged American men tell each other while they are intoxicated- and a beautifully cast/acted show at that.

The formula is something like this: A non-stop college frat party+excellent comedic timing+at least one disgusting situation= an episode of Blue Mountain State. Underneath all of the insanity there are also small truths that emerge in the realistic evolution of the character relationships: while Craig Shilo's friendship with Alex Moran is initially hard to accept, we learn that Shilo secretly craves the irresponsible life that Alex leads, and Alex is secretly a pretty smart/good guy. You may be surprised to find that after each episode you are left with a smile, in spite of whatever lines the show crossed. Often it feels like the writers are directly messing with you to test your boundaries, like a close friend ribbing you with "Yo Momma" jokes.

My recommendation is that you crack open some beers, relax your brain muscle, and give a few episodes of this show the college try. Hey, if you don't like it, you don't have to tell anyone you watched it. My guess is that you will fall in love with it- and be AFRAID to admit it!

So a stoner friend of mine says: "Check this out...". And since then, he is my comedy messiah. He has introduced me to Chris Parnelll, Archer and other gems. Usually when a stoner suggests comedy, you expect Seth Rogen, Cheech & Chong, Harold & Kumar and Judd Apatow. Instead I was given the new school version of Porky's, Meatballs and a hint of classic Bill Murray mischief.
A warning to ladies: this is very heavily male-orientated in it's sexually charged/sport driven humour that will leave most guys either in tears of laughter or cringing if you are in the room with them. My girlfriend makes me watch this when she is not home...

I stumbled upon this series nearly a year ago and was hooked, you can watch episodes over and over. Its basically college at its best, the actors are very comfortable and they couldnt have gotten a better cast (except for Craig Shilo, glad they removed him after the first season.) Favorite thing about BMS is that our generation is stuck in this banal, prudish mindset and the series creates a stimulating sense of "why is it so bad to show your t!t$?" And they comfortably display them like having Van Gogh in a museum in the most naturalistic of ways its beautiful and in my opinion more colleges should take after!
