Let me start by saying that this review by no means reflects the great service I received from Amazon. Nevertheless, it's the first item I ever had to ship back to Amazon due to item having significant difference between it's description and what I got.

I also find the reviews to be overly favorable such as "Envy of our Neighborhood" and not reflecting the lack of quality of this unit.

To start, let's talk about "Oil-rubbed Bronze", I was quite excited with anticipation of getting a distinguished fire-pit made of Bronze. What I got instead, was a painted finish over a thin sheet of metal which by no means resembled Bronze. Handles are made of even thinner pliable metal as well, with the same "inexpensive" (reads cheap) painted finish look. The screen on the lid, is also unacceptably thin and can not hold shape to the slightest hand pressure, which makes me wonder how it could ever last after exposure to high heat.

The total weight of this unit is about 44-45 lbs, compare that to an 80-100 lbs unit from your local HW store so you can guess how inexpensively it's made. Metal thickness is quite thin, and comparing to other fire-pits of cast iron or other cast metal, will not withstand continuous exposure to high heat.

In a nutshell, do some research with comparable units or be prepared to be disappointed. I'm also quite disappointed with the positive reviews, as they were the main reason I purchased it in the first place, and also the reason I wanted to write this review to set the record straight.

Imagine the liability of importing or manufacturing poor quality fire pits? Cheap materials will eventually degrade, break, rust, add the stress caused by heat and these cheap products are a disaster waiting to happen. Would you risk losing your home to a fire?

I guarantee, someone will be calling their lawyer when they have a house fire or neighborhood fire due to poor quality fire pits with "too thin" of a metal structure.

I guess anything to make a buck, right? WRONG. How much are you willing to risk? I believe it pays to buy quality products made with solid materials, and preferably buy Made in USA.

ADDITIONALLY, I can tell from experience this is not Oil Rubbed Bronze. It is a painted finish. Most likely powder coating. It probably really is "Oil Rubbed Bronze............Color"

Powder coatings are named or numbered to reference their color. "Oil Rubbed Bronze" is possibly the color name of the powder coating color which the seller is inferring that the metal in the product is actually Bronze.

As you can see this mis-representation is irritating to me. By the way "TRUE BRONZE METAL IS AN ALLOY OF COPPER AND TIN....IT WON'T RUST" thin sheet metal certainly will rust quickly when exposed to HEAT/FIRE/MOISTURE/COLD.

PLEASE USE CAUTION, YOU MAY HAVE A LOT TO LOSE.

I purchased this 2 years ago, as a Christmas present for my husband. He fell in love with it that Christmas morning, and had to use it right away.

I live in Southern California, where it doesn't rain often. But when it was not in use during that first year it was emptied, and placed in the shed. The paint bubbled / peeled off within the first 3 months (we had fires almost every night). Then I noticed that it was beginning to rust.

The wire grill bent and warped within that first year. As for the top, it rusted pretty bad, the hardware cloth, came apart from the metal circle. Needless to say, it is not used. As for the wire grill, I have to put bricks under it to raise it up from the bottom of the pit, so that the air can circulate under it.

It is near the second year of ownership, and this fire pit is completely covered in rust, the bottom is becoming thin. We still use it, but I know within the next year it will be rusted through. And I will need to figure out a replacement.

would I buy this product again? No.

Would I recommend this product to others? No.

This firepit is attractive and large. Perfect for a big group to sit around. It seems light weight, but it seems to be sturdy enough. Have had it about a year and keep it under a roof when not in use. It still looks great. My one "compaint" is that it didn't come with anything to take the lid off with. Many come with a metal thing that you can also use as a poker. Nice product though. We get lots of compliments.

This is a sturdy product that holds a lot of wood for the fire. I love that the sides are open (there is mesh over the holes so nothing will fall out) so the heat can radiate out through the sides. Beautiful addition to our deck.

I purchased this fire pit approximately 1 year ago. I also purchased a Veranda Fire Pit Cover and kept it covered at all times. I am now noticing rust starting to appear on the legs and screened sides of the fire pit after only the one year. I will have to take a wire brush to it and paint it with a good rust resistant paint before the upcoming fall and winter season. We live in a mild climate so water and sun are the only weather elements we have to contend with. The fire pit is attractive...and we have had enjoyable evenings sitting around it...but the description IS misleading as stated in a previous review....and I don't recall any ceramic tile! I've had no problems with the screen cover on the top of the fire pit. I give it only 3 stars because of the rust issue and the misleading description.

Item arrived quickly and in good shape. It was exactly as the product description indicated. It is stylish and much larger than other firepits.

Bought the BLue Rhino Oil Rubbed Bronze Outdoor fire pit for my husband for Christmas. Its made well, nice and big, heavy duty. Very easy to assemble. It gets used almost daily. I looked for awhile before making this choice, and am very happy with this product. The fire screen is included, with many of the others, it had to be purchased separately. Scale of 1 to 10, its a 10!!

When I purchased this firepit I was a bit skeptical. Not sure why, since I have or should I say had another type of firepit, but this one looked real cool and it looked like it would definitely be better than the other one I had. Boy was I right! Everyone that we have over our backyard loves it and we gotten a couple of our friends to buy it for their backyard as well. It really is convenient, not gawky, heavy to move, and really warms up everyone fast since the kettle is deep and the sides give off a lot of heat - not just on top. Love it! Highly recommend it.

LOVE THIS FIRE PIT! MY HUSBAND PUT THIS TOGETHER AS SOON AS IT WAS DELIVERED. THE BOWL AREA IS DEEP AND LARGE ENOUGH TO HAVE A GREAT SIZED FIRE. IT WAS VERY INEXPENSIVE. I THINK IT IS MADE NICELY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FIRE PIT TO ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED.
