Pattern to love,

I just love this book, pattern from old days and nice crocheting. Each pattern is marked with skills level. I'm sure you also will learn to love this book.

Very nice patterns,

There are some really nice patterns in this book. My favorites are as follows. The most attractive is Underwater Adventures afghan: a central rectangle of blue with appliqued sea creatures and a multicolor border; the colors are bright and beautifully combined. There is a very nice cable stitch sampler afghan, and one made in filet strips with flower shapes that is pretty. There are several nice doilies, a couple with Irish crochet elements. A filet window valance, with a chart.Altogether there are 53 designs. Chapter headings are Judges' Choice Afghans, First-prize Fashions, Heirloom Masterpieces (doilies, table cover, valance, 2 edgings, all made in thread), Best-in Show Babies, Award-winning Dolls and Toys, Home Accessories Showcase. Designers include Margret Willson, Dot Drake, Bendy Carter, Hartmut Hass, and others. There is a one page stitch guide. Not a book for learning to crochet, but some classic designs to inspire your creativity. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that I have not made any of the projects yet, but the patterns appear to be clearly written, and the photos are very clear.

Excelent book! not for learning crochet,

This is a excellent book! I have made several of the patterns in it and am currently working on 2 afghans in the book. This is my favorite crochet pattern book because of the variety of patterns in it. Curtains and doilies, to cloths and toys. It has both crochet and tunisian crochet patterns in it. And if you like afghans it has plenty of those in full sized and baby/kids designs. One piece designs and others which need to be assembled. This is NOT how ever a book to learn crochet buy. It has 1 page dedicated to stitches. And the name alone indicates that it's not beginner designs. Though if you are new to crochet I still recommend this book as it's very challenging and will widen your skills greatly. I'm crocheting in ways I have never done with some of these patterns and I've been crocheting for 13 years. These designs are the type of things that get people saying "I didn't know you could do that with crochet!"
