you get what you pay for,

I bought this comforter for my toddler, and for that purpose the blanket is fine. If I had bought this for an adult bed I would have returned it. Its basically a polyester blanket, not a the down alternative that I was expecting.

Well, the old adage that says, "You get what you pay for," is true in this case. The filling is unbelievably sparse and is clumped together within each of the boxes, giving it a very lumpy appearance. The filling is NOT "down-alternative." Down-alternative is fiber made from polyester or cotton or other non-bird material that nevertheless is supposed to feel and look as if it were down. This appears to have been stuffed with material that was pulled out of a really cheap stuffed animal. In addition, the "king" size is not long enough for a king-sized bed. I can't believe that the list price for this item is $140 -- that would be an outrage. I have chosen not to return it, as shipping costs would be nearly as much as the price I paid for it ($38). Maybe the dog can use a new blanket.....

I was initially disappointed when I received this comforter because the lumpy texture of the fill. Still, once I put it in my duvet cover and used it on a few chilly nights I forgot what it looked like uncovered and appreciated it's function. I bought this comforter for a little added warmth during Hawaii's winter chill and have been pleased as to how it's worked for us.

I purchased this after my old down comforter began to lose it's feathers and I am very glad I did! With the pockets the stuffing doesn't ball up at the bottom like my old comforter and stays evenly distributed. Also it is very cozy for the cold nights but not so hot that my husband protests it being on the bed. I highly recommend this for use in any duvet.

When it arrived it looked really small but it is so fluffy and soft! We love it and it keeps you wrm without being heavy. We have had ice storms for over a week now and have not had to turn up the heat even with just this one blanket on our bed.

not what I expected,
This review is from: Blue Ridge Home Microfiber Down Alternative Comforter (Kitchen)
When I took it out of the box I was kind of disapointed because it's very thin. Not fluffy, like I was expecting. I have it on our bed now and it has alot of spots that have no fulling. Each square does have fill, but some have more then others, but not completely filled, like I would have expected. I'm going to see how it works with a duvet cover, then I'm going to decide if this will go in the guest room intead.

When I bought this comforter it came during a warm spell so I put it in the bedroom, still in its zippered clear container. Before I needed it I began to smell something unpleasant and moldy. Imagine my horror to find it was the new unused comforter! Evidently it was stored in a damp place or got wet sometime during its travels from manufacture to me. I put it out on the line for days, turning it every so often until the smell dissipated. But when I brought it in, the smell resurfaced.
It's unusable though not spotted with mildew, mold, etc. just extremely unpleasant to be close to. My washer is too small to accommodate it so before I give up and throw it away unused I will ask someone with a large washer to try to get rid of the smell once and for all by 2-3 washings/dryings without ruining the comforter. Of course, by the time I figured all this out, it was past the 30-day return period (nor do I imagine they'd have taken it back anyway since they'd have no reason to believe it came that way instead of being something I'd caused). Beware. A word to the wise. If you buy this, take it out of the container immediately upon receipt.

After the Blue Ridge Home Microfiber Down Alternative Comforter goes into your comforter cover the only way you can tell it isn't down is from that absence of the occasional feather in your bed. The fill feels like down, however you don't have any of the problems. Describing how this comforter will lay flat on your bed is difficult. At first this bothered me, but now after a few months of folding moving bunching the comforter is able to stay bunched up wherever it is put. I will find out if it is also cool like my down comforter this summer.

This comforter is nice and cozy, but not quite enough to keep me warm during the Maryland winters. It's very soft, but is only about as warm as a fleece blanket.

Like the title says, this is a very good, but not quite great, comforter. The down alternative seems to be shifting a little bit within the exterior fabric. Either that, or there are just a few spots where it's thinner than everywhere else. But it was a really good price and overall, it's perfect for the Houston "cold" season (if you can call our winters cold). With the duvet I put it in, it will almost certainly be too warm for summer, but for four or so months of the year, it's excellent.
