5.0 out of 5 stars Master of the Bluegrass Mandolin, March 17, 2002

Word of mouth from fellow Bluegrass fans led me to purchase this CD. Quite simply, it is great. Alan's 1923 Loar and his precise execution of the music does detract from the soul of the music. Instrumental tracks are coupled with vocal tracks from the masters of bluegrass like Dan Tyminski and Del McCoury. This CD is a must for anyone who plays the mandolin, but it will be equally enjoyed by the casual bluegrass fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bluegrass fan from NC, September 9, 2001

I knew Alan Bibey was one of the very top mandolin players in Bluegrass music for a long while now but the diversity of this project shows he is at ease with any type of music. There's terrific hard driving bluegrass and also astounding work on the texas swing number "Wild Fiddler's Rag"!! With this awesome supporting cast this is one of my fave recordings ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs Up!!!, August 3, 2000

It's pretty tough to go wrong purchasing a bluegrass CD with the likes of musicians like Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Terry Baucom, Alan Bibey, and a cast of others equally talented. This CD provides a nice mix of instrumental and vocal numbers. The picking and fiddling is clear and flawless. Vocals are equally clear and the harmonies are tight. Audio quality is superb. It's difficult to pick a favorite song from the list as they are all great numbers, but "What I am" with Ronnie Bowman singing lead gets my nod. I can't imagine a bluegrass fan not totally enjoying this CD.
