5.0 out of 5 stars Kraftwerk meets Erasure
Despite everyone's dismissal of Der Deustche Mix I, it is a masterpiece. Most of the incidental and subtle percussion sounds are from Kraftwerk's Tour De France. It is a MUST have for this alone, and makes both Blue Savannah and Tour De France sound incredible.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price for one extra song
I wasn't too fond of Blue Savannah by itself, but I had heard the single from a friend and ended up purchasing it simply because of an extra song that was on the single. It is called "Supernature" and I believe it to be one of their better works. Very creative lyrically and musically, it gives a dim picture of man's irresponsibility with genetic engineering.

You will never tire of the emotions that Andy Bell is able to express in this single. Absolutely beautiful! Erasure's best work yet, closely followed by Fingers and Thumbs.

4.0 out of 5 stars I must concur., August 23, 1998

The mixes for Blue Savannah on this single are nice, to be sure, but it's the B-side "Supernature" that makes the single worth buying. A word of advice: Crank it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have or any Erasure fan, October 23, 2001
By A Customer

This CD includes the radio release track that first hit the air in 1989, so no surprise there. The Der Deutche mixes on tracks 2 and 3 are passable, but nothing to get excited about. Track number four, Runaround on the Underground, is a MASTERPIECE. The bass is hard driving, the background music is somewhat trance in its manner, and all in all the track makes buying this single worth having. The Mark Saunders remix of Blue Savannah is the best rendition to date. The Supernature track has lyrics fit for a Halloween movie soundtrack, but the music is exceptional. No GDM is a bit off the wall, even for Erasure, but a quality track altogether. If tracks 2 & 3 were omitted I'd rate this 9.99 on a 10 scale.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great song, Weak mixes, January 18, 2001

"Blue Savannah" was truly one of "Wild's" best songs back in 1989 so when this maxi was released, i expected more than what i heard....THe Der Deutche mixes were very weak (especially II) and took alot away from the original emotion of the track itself. now, the Mark Saunders Remix? Now we're talking!! the song was magnificent, epic, and a masterpiece! i think the remix alone is worth the price of the CD. "Runaround on the Underground" is fantastic in 12" remix form with lucious pianos, but try to find it in its original version, it's precious and lovely (and shorter!) Supernature (remixed by master William Orbit) is great but a little cluttered the original (on the Hard to find "You Surround Me" UK single) is more fun. And "No GDM", well....that's another show altogether....CIAO BELLAS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fodder, November 14, 1999

This song, from '89s "Wild" album, is a pretty good song in my opinion but not nearly as good as two other singles from the same album, "Drama" and "Star". Vocalist Andy Bell, however, has long said that this is his favorite song they've recorded to date. This CD includes the single version of "Blue Savannah" as well as 3 remixes. None of the remixes come close to the original, not keeping with the feeling of the song. The single also features no less than 3 B-sides. Unfortunately only one of them is really that good, Supernature, a cover of a song about genetic alteration. The other two include a far-to-long mix of "Runaround On The Underground", and another cover of a terrible song called "No G.D.M." I've heard shorter and better mixes on MP3s of both "Supernature" and "RotU" and I have no idea where to find them or why they're not on this CD.

This gets 4 stars (maybe 3 1/2) for the single mix of "Blue Savannah" and the B-Side "Supernature", but other singles from the "Wild!" album (Star and Drama) are much better songs sporting far better B-Sides. This one's for the completist only.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Wild!" Remix, August 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Blue Savannah (Audio CD)
"Blue Savannah" was a great song off of the 1989 "Wild!" album, maybe the best. However, there was no need to remix it, seeing as how it kills the original passion that was in the song. Also, the flip side, "Supernature," was done better in its original version, by French DJ/disco star Cerrone. So, instead of the single, try finding a copy of "Wild!" and search a little bit for Cerrone's original, to be found on a few different disco compilations.
