He knows each of the car names and can "read" what each page says. I put "read" in quotes because he has each sentence memorized. Regardless, I'm impressed! So if I point at the words "Old Car" he'll say it, but when I point to the car, he'll say "Mater"
The pictures are renderings vs illustrations, so they'll look just like the characters in the movie.
My son gets frustrated when presented with too many words that he doesn't instantly recognize. This book challenged him just enough to sound out a word here and there, but still gave him a sense of achievement that encouraged him to continue working his way through the story. The pictures were appropriate and gave context to what he was reading. It was a great story length for him, as well.
When we closed the book, he had a big smile on his face. I was very encouraged and plan on picking up several more of these stories! I would highly recommend them.
Old, New, Red, Blue! is a book of opposites with rhyming words.
The Step Into Reading level 1 books are supposed to have big type and easy words along with picture clues. This book definitely delivers on the big type and simple words. The picture clues work, too, since the story is so simple..."Dirty car. Clean Car."
This is a very simple book for learning to read and the true Cars fan will enjoy recognizing situations from the movie.
Any book that keeps your early reader interested in reading is a good book!

Not a fan of these. My son liked them for a couple of day, and then lost interest. It's lazy stuff with lack of quality story telling.Published 6 days ago by Doctor Bertram
Compared to other level 1 reading books, this like more like level .5 . There are half the words and they are VERY simple.Published 20 days ago by Heather Smith

It doesn't have a story line. It's just random sentences put together. I do not recommend this book to anyone.Published 6 months ago by sistar357
