5.0 out of 5 stars These girls can rock!!!!
This album is simply spellbinding and it brings chills down my spine whenever I listen to it. Sure some of the lyrics can be a life cheesy- listen to "Blue Tattoo." the title song! I laughed when I heard it but that is forgivable since the girls are so amazing and can pull off any kind of song. Even though they are generally metal I wouldn't call it metal. I would call it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Estonian dance-metal
Vanilla Ninja consists of four young women from Estonia, who play a combination of gothic metal and commercial dance music. Over the last few years, they have achieved some success in Eastern Europe, although they are not well-known in the West. This CD, probably their most successful, was heavily dominated by the producer, who wrote most of the songs. Nevertheless,...

I would call it bubblegum metal- but you can hear Scandinavian pop influences in this. Maybe a hint of Britney (Spears) here and there. Not that this is a problem because they are like so much better than her. One complaint is that their accents are sooooo thick! Well they are from Estonia!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD on the Market!!!, May 14, 2009
This review is from: Blue Tattoo (Audio CD)
The entire CD is great listening. Nowadays it is very difficult to find a CD that has more than 3 songs that are great. Very rare! I would recommend this CD to ALL ages. It's a joy to listen to at work, home, and in the car. Excellent CD!!! I am fortunate to have found all the songs on the CD to be 5 stars! :)

Nevertheless, the vocals are quite good, the instrumental playing is competent, although some session musicians were used, and the sound engineering is outstanding. Of the 14 tracks on this CD, 12 are original songs and two are extended versions. The long versions, which feature some elaborate instrumental effects, are more interesting to listen to than the single edits. The main problem here is the dance soundtrack influence. The songs are rather repetitive, and nearly all of them have the same downbeat ambience. Bottom line: This band is actually much better than most commercial dance artists. But they are not in the same league as Western Europe's female-fronted gothic or symphonic metal bands, like Within Temptation or Nightwish.

These chicks know how to rock. Catchy melodies, great songs. They aren't really known in America but I think they will be soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars 100% Kareokee, October 20, 2005

Music 4.5 Stars,
The Band 0.0 stars and that's being generous.

These girls are a bunch of pretty faces that were hired to pose to the music someone else wrote. The world spit Milli Vanili out when it discovered the scheme. Now it has become an industry standard.
Zero respect for the four poser ladies, but I give a lot of props to those who wrote and produced the music. The songs are catchy. It is basically ABBA meets Metallica, but performed by Christina Aguilera.
