good victorian style porn,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Blue Train (Paperback)
This is erotica for those who enjoy victorian porn. This isn't s/m and has none of those feteshistic obsessions. It is unrelenting sadistic "spanking" involving young teenage girls.

Can we say tour guide, dribble for dialogue and no plot!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Blue Train (Paperback)
This is one of the worst pieces of s/m literature I have ever read. They don't allow zero stars but that's what it deserves. The main character of the book is supposed to be telling the story of his adventures in torturing and using females bound for slavery for the remainder of their lives. But what the author provides is the most boring dribble describing beatings and anal sex. I finished the book but not without toothpicks to keep my eyes open and I have to admit that towards the end I was not reading it word for word. Everyone uses the girls first and last name, the same language and same words no matter what country they are in...... Now I know why this type of literature gets such a bad rating. Thank goodness for Sara Adamson and a few others. If you are into long drawn out descriptions of the scenery in Europe and long drawn out descriptions of each wack of the belt then this is the book for you.... YAWN!!!!

This review is from: The Blue Train (Mass Market Paperback)
THE BLUE TRAIN reads like a collected string of erotic short stories and novelettes previously published in a Brit spanker bi-weekly. Not that that's a bad thing! Manton is a genius writer when he's on, and he's definitely on in THE BLUE TRAIN, one of his most coherent episodic works. This is literate page-turning adult entertainment before the novel derails in its final chapters, degenerating into a dark and superfluous cruelty. Up till then it's a splendid ride, top-of-its-class erotic writing. Each chapter centers on a different young female miscreant whose bottom ostensibly requires the birch. The only common denominator beyond the faceless narrator is the blue train itself----most of the quasi-interrelated stories/chapters take place in the confines of its private luxury cars. Hot enough to steam up train windows! |
