4.0 out of 5 stars Can't complain
My expectations were very low considering the price. But unlike a generic web cam I purchased a few years ago, this one functioned immediately on my 32-bit Windows XP Pro work computer. It works perfectly with Office Communicator.

I plugged it into by last gen Macbook Pro just to see if it would work, and alas it does absolutely nothing.

I read comments from other reviewers before buying this item. I found their information correct. The cam is easy to install (I simply plugged it into my USB port + microphone port in PC with Windows 7 OS and it began working immediately within the webcam program I was running).

The flexible necks work and actually seem pretty durable. That said, the mic neck came out of the cam body within 5 minutes. I thought I may superglue it, but it turns out I could just thread it back in the hole a couple turns until it tightened up.

The focus ring is a bit loose but does stay in place.

The biggest thing it lacks is a status indicator light. Unlike many other cams, there is no LED that tells you if they cam is live.

One thing I didn't notice before purchasing was that the base has a mechanical suction cup. Meaning rather than just sticking it to a surface, it has a lever that pivots to allow a potentially very secure mount but easy release. The only surface I had to try is my textured desktop at work, which allowed air to slowly get under the seal. But it seemed that if it had a smooth surface it would hold very well.

It's kind of amazing that there are web cams costing 10 times as much considering how functional this one is. If I had thought to check if this cam had a status light, I may have paid a couple bucks more. Oh well.

I read comments from other reviewers before buying this item. I found their information correct. The cam is easy to install (I simply plugged it into my USB port + microphone port in PC with Windows 7 OS and it began working immediately within the webcam program I was running). This was good thing because I didn't find any installation instructions in or on the package.

The image appears to be above average and I did find that the ring around the lens opening improved the focus. I like the flexible neck and stand which allows me the opportunity to place the camera wherever I prefer (I didn't want a clip-on monitor camera for this reason). The suction cup base will only stick to a clean smooth polished (glass) surface.

I recommend this to anyone who is a novice to webcam communication. For the very reasonable price, one could afford to toss this device if you got hooked (buy a more expensive cam upgrade) or didn't like this form of communication.

UPDATE: Like some of the other reviewers, I unplugged the cam to do some maintenance on my PC tower. When I plugged in the cam, it became unrecognizable by Windows7.

I paid around 10 bucks for it. It was easy to set up and works just fine. The picture is not crystal clear, but it's not dark or choppy either. You'll get above average value for what you pay for here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working in 2 weeks, July 25, 2010

It was very easy to set up on my vista (64bit) desktop computer. But while having a windows video, my image locked up and since, plugging it into my USB port, my computer does not recognize it. I know longer can place video calls, so I am returning it unfortunately. I had high hopes and a positive view until it just stopped and it was so young.

how do you submit these, I only have a preview link??? I'll hopefully amuse myself with this line in a moment.

The picture quality was surprisingly good on this little camera, but the microphone - not so hot. The people on the other end could barely hear me even when they turned their sound up to maximum. Had to return it and try another.

3.0 out of 5 stars USB Webcam, May 30, 2011
This review is from: Blue USB Webcam on Flexible Neck w/ Mic (Personal Computers)
It's not bad for the price I paid. You get what you pay for. If you're looking to do some web vLogging or any other important recording this is NOT the web cam for you. But if you're just web chatting with Grandma on the other side of the country then it'll probably do the job. Just make sure you have a well lit room.
The mic isn't the greatest [it's very sensitive] but it does a good job for a web mic.

It's a nice beginner cam.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good and cheap, March 26, 2011
This review is from: Blue USB Webcam on Flexible Neck w/ Mic (Personal Computers)
The IT guy at work had this sitting on his desk because it came free with something he had ordered. I needed another web cam for a skype call so I tried this out quickly before I pulled a camera off of another pc. Plugged it in, ran Skype and it just worked--no software, no setup. Twice now someone on the other end of a skype call has commented on how good the sound is. The video quality is OK, even in moderate light, but certainly doesn't have the clarity or low-light adjustment of pricier models.

1.0 out of 5 stars total crap., February 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Blue USB Webcam on Flexible Neck w/ Mic (Personal Computers)
from what i can figure these are like old webcams used from some business or something. theres visible scratches and visible use of glue where the stand and the actual camera attach. i'll give it to them, it was easy to use. plug it in and if u have minimal computer knowledge u should know where to download a webcam program. but none of that matters because the picture quality was TOTAL CRAP. it was staticy and the colors were completely off. totally unusable! i expected something a little flimsy and maybe with bad sound quality (from what i read from previous reviews) but this was just a complete waste of money. thank goodness i didn't have to pay shipping.

do not buy this.
