Getting to know your Band,

This review is from: Blue (DVD)
While people were waiting for the next album to drop, The Birthday Massacre decided to drop something akin to an "electronic press kit" to keep the public entertained and to help introduce them a little more. It was put together in 5.1, was limited in its pressing, and wasn't bad for something that introduced a band in three videos and a handful of clips. I liked it and picked it up, but I wouldn't say it is "needed" because it is what it is.
And what it is: Videos for the song "Blue," "Violet," and "Nevermind," with director's commentary by Dan Ouellette. I enjoyed that part of the DVD - the discussion part - because it was interesting to hear the director's ideas. Depending on the video, the discussion comes from somewhere different, and depending on the video you have things like interviews with Scott Radke (the dollmaker for "Blue") talking about the end product. Normally you just get videos and not ideas behind videos. I personally liked having both. Aside from that, there is the footage of the band listed as "candid footage" - basically this is stuff recorded in rehearsals, interviews, on location, and whatnot. You also have an introduction to the band, clips from their mini-tour that went all over the US and Canada as well, and a video stills gallery. So, is it good? I thought so. Is it worth picking up? Hope the information provided helps answer that a little bit better. Regardless, you should check out Violet at the least, listening to the band that spawned the sounds. Violet

Good day reader,
If you are a fan of The Birthday Massacre, this DVD is a must own. It is short, but completely worth every penny. I have only been into this band for a few years now and this DVD is a great item for anyones collection. For me, it shows how far they have come, yet have maintained their artistic and creative identities over time. Plus, having the video for Blue be such a wonderful creation, and to see all of those talented people come together to bring the vision to life is such a bonus to watch. If anyone is a fan of this band, purchase this DVD. The Birthday Massacre are very unique and deserve as much success, attention, praise, and admiration as they can get. I say that simply because I believe they are honest in their approach and are completely committed to their craft. Thank you.
