Customer Reviews

Very clever and funny.

The audio is really bad, half the time you can't understand what they are saying, and I think there is a lot more inside jokes in there than anyone else would get.
B-Rad
Loved binge watching the entire 1st season, which I think was still the very best!

I think I knew what I was going to see when I started watching this animated feature, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't that schlocky. I don't really think of it as a movie, but it deserves that label as much as any other of its type. This type of animation, also called Machinima, is based on an early version of Halo. In essence you are watching a recorded version of staged video game sequences with voiceovers. The game backdrop gives the dialog a place to live. Burnie Burns wrote the script and directed the movie. He also performed one of the voices (the soldier, Church). Although the video game avatars are very stiff (not animated?), as could be expected from this decade-old version of Halo, the dialog is the real star of the show. I plan to watch the other versions available to see how the series evolves. Good show. It's worth watching. In fact, you could almost watch it with your eyes closed and get as much out of it as I did. Enjoy.

By the way, who is picking the tags on these movies? "Human centipede" - whatever that is, I didn't see any. "Nudity" - you've got to be kidding.

p.s. I wish that Bernie was writing for Saturday Night Live. It would then become the hilarious show it used to be. Check him out on Wikipedia.

This series was great when it first came out on redvsblue.com and it still makes me laugh 11 years later. It should be noted that this is a show that was made from a 'Mature' rated game, so the language is very mature. However, these characters talk the way regular people talk and that's all they are.
I'm glad Amazon has given this to Prime members for free. Now, I can finally commit the blasphemy of streaming Halo through my Playstation.

Classic red vs blue. Before watching this keep in mind it's the first season. Mic and production values where not great, but the jokes are still funny as ever.

This was produced while using the actual first Halo video game on the original xbox. If you can make it through the hilarity that is Vol. 1 then you won't be disappointed in the rest of the series. Keep in mind this was made almost 10-11 years ago, it was gold then, and it's golden still.

This is not only one of the BEST machinima ever made, it is also the longest running, all the way back to the days of the first Halo. So for those complaining about it looking "bad" or "old", well no s***, it was one of the pioneers of a new type of film style, obtaining all of it's footage from recording gameplay.

I remember first watching this when I was in middle school, nearly a decade ago, and being completely blown away by what Rooster Teeth had done. I will admit that the first couple seasons are a bit of a mixed bag, but every scene is charming in it's own way, as well as having plenty of laughs packed into each one.

Currently this show is in it's 12th season and on the journey there has created an amazing and captivating story that fits right along side the actual Halo universe. Sure you won't see Master Chief making an appearance, but for fans of the Halo series you will catch all kinds of references to the beloved game series.

Honestly, this is one of the best shows around, chock full of laughs, cool characters, drama, action, and even a few moments that can bring a tear to your eye. So if you're still on the fence about this series, please give it a shot. You won't regret it.

I don't really watch a lot of tv or movies, but as a gamer I've heard of red vs blue before. Since Amazon instant video offered it free for prime users I figured why not give it a shot? I thought it was really funny and clever considering the constraints they probably had to work under with the software at the time. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of video games, or a fan of comedy using video games as its medium.
