Review

Belle Braxton is waiting for her father. The Widow Braxton, as she is known, is a recluse-- some people say she is crazy. But Belle is a wounded soul, lost and alone in a world she doesn't quite fit into. She suffered an injury as a child that has left her with a scarred leg and a limp. But the scars go much deeper than the physical, for Belle doesn't remember what happened to her. All she knows is that her father will come for her and dance with her on St. Valentine's Day. Stephen St. James meets Belle before he even knows who she is. Responsible, practical Stephen is captivated by her unconventional ways and bold personality. He wonders about the mysterious woman who calls herself Blue Belle, wearing out-of-style dresses and saying the most outrageous things. Then he discovers that she is the woman who bought his brother Adam's house right next door. This is the mysterious widow-- but who is Belle? She is lightness and shadows, never telling much but always listening and watching. Stephen is falling in love with her, but he doesn't know her at all. The mystery that is Belle's life begins to unravel as she becomes closer to Stephen and Adam. She has a special kinship with Adam that Stephen doesn't understand... could it be that he will lose Belle to Adam? But Adam has his own dark secret, one that Stephen will never accept, and Belle is his confidant. Stephen begins to probe into Belle's past and discovers that all is not what it seems. Is Belle really crazy, or is she just a free spirit making the best of a life touched by sadness and tragedy? Drawn together by their differences, Belle and Stephen find love and understanding in each other.Blue Waltz is about accepting differences in others, conquering adversity and learning when to let go... but most of all, it is about unconditional love. What a magnificent book! A poignant, moving love story of the highest caliber! The characters are honest, realistic and very special! Linda Francis Lee's words will touch your heart! A wonderful tale of love and understanding from a remarkable author!Kristina Wright -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved -- From Literary Times

5.0 out of 5 stars A completely original romance, December 26, 1999
This review is from: Blue Waltz (Paperback)
This is the first book I've read by this author. It won't be the last. It contains the most original heroine I've read since Judy Cuevas. Belle appears on the social scene in Victorian Boston with a lot of money and very little known about her past. She's a recluse who seems to be living in a dreamworld set in the past. Her presence in the upper-class Boston neighborhood changes the lives of everyone living there. But they can't tell, is she merely eccentric, or truly mad? Her neighbor Stephen finds that much to his dismay, she's a mystery he can't get out of his mind. As more and more details about her unfold, Stephen finds more about his own character being revealed as well. A wonderful book!
