Customer Reviews

It was easy to install and it works great.

The brackets face is not flat, as one side of it is intended to go out around a curved spa corner, and the shoulders are not the same height.

Instructions in the manual are poor and misleading.

This is a basic but sturdy and functional bar that will help you lift the spa cover up into the air a bit and before sliding it down over the side of the spa. Getting it back up again can be hard if your cover weighs a lot because there are no springs or counter weights to help you pull the cover straight up the side of the spa until it's high enough to tilt over onto the top of the spa.

The top bar is 1.25" in diameter. This means that the gusset that connects the two halves of your cover should be at least 2" or the cover will not fold down flat over the bar.

The directions say you'll need 2' clearance all around. You can probably get by with 1 foot on the spa sides where the brackets mount. On the side where the cover will go, you'll want all two feet, and probably extra, even if your cover is only 4 inches thick.

The lifter needs to be assembled with wrenches and a power driver/drill. It ships short 2 washers and 2 more of the nuts should have been aero nuts. There is a plastic spacer around the each arm where it goes over the axle; I expect they will last about as long as a cover will (several years), and then I'll have to rig some replacement.

Do a trial fit of the bracket with arm attached to make sure the bracket is high enough to clear the deck when the arm rotates. Then check to see that the brackets will actually mount securely to the frame under the skirting; they will probably be positioned too high for the upper screws to go into the frame. (Just attaching the brackets to the skirt without a solid frame behind the skirt will quickly break the skirt.) I fastened a couple of pieces of treated 2x6 to the spa (their bottoms fastened to the frame) to provide a firm place to mount the brackets.

The cover lift is decent , but not great. When mounted on our hot tub, the lift would not get cover all the way off the hot tub due to the stops on the mounting bracket. As. Result, we had to uninstall lift and drill new holes in steel brackets, then relocate the stops.

At first I thought i must have made a mistake, so i kept reviewing the instructions trying to figure it out. I even called for support. Unfortunately, the instructions are horrible. Ffortunately, I'm very handy and know how to use tools and make modifications as needed.

Also, the instructions indicate that you need 2 feet of clearance on all four sides. This is complete nonsense. You only need 2 feet on the side where the cover will land when opened. On the sides where the cover lift are installed, you need a minimum of 4 inches.

By the way, if you need customer support, don't bother calling number on manual. I called to ask about the stops (mentioned above) and they told me support is provided by the retailer. They are just the distributor. Why they print their number on the manual is puzzling.

Good luck!

I was concerned at first if it would fit with my hot tub (Strong Spas) but after opening the package and pre fitting everything first before installing it I am happy to report that it works just fine. The package is compact and well boxed to prevent any damage during shipping. If you follow the instructions that are inclosed with the product and read them first before trying to put it together everything will connect and line up properly. The main critical placement is the the two lower brackets that attach to the hot tub frame they are side specific and will only work if installed correctly. They are attached with screws and securely hold the brackets in place. The tub cover folds over the bar and then the lift is then used to hold the cover to one side of the tub .The cover stays off of the ground and approximately two feet of it extends into the air next to the hot tub.The cover will require some clearance (about 14 " to 17" depending on the thickness of your cover)on the side you are folding it over. You have some leway when assembling the brackets and poles so this should fit most spas that conform to the manufactures specifications as far as the size of the tub goes.Tools required consist of a few common wrenches (pliers in a pinch) and a drill with a phillips bit to use for the screws.I found that I didn't need to pre drill anything even though the instructions sugested to as the screws were self tapping and went in with the usual force required to start them. The screw covers however are a different matter.Be prepared to use brute force to get them to "pop" on the screw head. Not impossible but you will be glad when that part of the job is done.Read more ›

I was a little skeptical because of the low price, but this really works well. All the parts were included and in good condition. Be careful installing the mounting brackets. The long screws would have pierced the control box had I not pulled the spa inspection covers off to check first. The powder coating seems a little thin on some small sections of the support arms as they show streaks of brownish hue and are not a deep black. I would purchase again even though a little black paint might be needed to prevent rust.
