BlueAir 501 Air Purifier with SmokeStop Filter works with a combination of modern technologies. It works on ionizer and electrostatic and filter technologies. As a result you get very clean air with a rapid clean air delivery rates.
Easy to use You don?t have to do anything apart from plugging in the air purifier. It is very energy efficient and the power consumption is just in the range of 15 watts to 95 watts. Simple filter replacement process, unit housing is easy to wipe clean, and the filters are waterproof.
Four fan speeds allow for silent nighttime use, moderate daytime use, or maximum speed for heavier cleaning.
Utilizing a revolutionary HEPASilent particle filter and ionization chamber to improve air conditions in any room in the house. The air enters the back of the machine, passes through the pre-filter, the HEPA filter and then through the ionization chamber. No ozone is emitted during the purification process

Have used several less expensive HEPA filters in the past with less than stellar results - the Blueair 501 cleans the air more thoroughly - I would wake up occasionally coughing before (most likely due to pet dander) - have not had this happen since running the purifier at night on setting "4" of 5. I also have a neighbor who's second-hand smoke sometimes drifts in through the pipe fittings - the smell has disappeared, too. This unit is more expensive but it's worth it - am very satisfied!
