I use this to remove tarnish and dirt from antique lamps, clocks and other art-deco items that are from the 20s and 30s. I alternate between this and simichrome polish. Here is a comparison if you are trying to decide between the two:
*This product is much less expensive than simichrome. (7oz tub for 6 bucks vs 8.8oz can of paste for $25).
*This has a consistency that is creamy like sour cream vs a paste. I think it takes a little more time and effort to get comparable results, as the paste seems to go farther.
*It seems to leave a residue on some items. Objects that I thought were polished and clean tend to develop a slight film a few hours later, and require some additional elbow-work.
*It does leaves behind a brilliant glossy shine that is incredible- better than simichrome. Although for some reason, it doesn't seem to work as well as simichrome on crystal and glass.

Both products have their uses and work very well. I've been starting out with simichrome on really grungy stuff and using this more as a finishing polish. The shine is really gorgeous! Definitely a good purchase, especially for the cost.

Absolutely IGNORE "one star Larry" below. This product is the exact opposite of horrible. He also says Mothers is better. Mothers metal polish is like rubbing sand on your finish, a product much closer to horrible for finesse work. The description of his project (oxidized wheels with CLEAR LACQUER PAINT ON THEM) required a different product and approach. He obviously has no clue. This polish is SO good and versatile I have even used it on fine finished wood (gun stocks) and painted surfaces as well as metal. But used for its intended job - metal - there is NO better in this world. I keep a jar on my bench, I wouldnt be without it.

First, HEED the warning of inhaling fumes. It WILL burn your throat and nasal passages if inhaled too much! So, be careful. I inhaled too much of the fumes, and I had pharyngitis as a result. Couldn't speak for two days..that's how bad it can be, and I was lucky I didn't burn my lungs. It's extraordinarily dangerous when you don't wear protection. It can also cause eye irritation. I'd say that you should probably wear protective goggles, gloves, and a respirator mask, especially for big jobs. I had a big job and therefore I was exposed to the fumes for too long without protection. I'm not exaggerating, it's harsh!

Secondly, this didn't work well on old stainless..but it worked great on old brass.

this is THE greatest metal polish to make old stainless steel watches and bands look like NEW!!just be sure NOT to use on watches with gold plated trim-it WILL polish the gold right off along with the scratches!in some cases this is not bad if the gold plating is worn and in bad shape--you end up with an all stainless steel nice looking watch.be careful if watch says base metal on the back-it is NOT stainless and is usually chrome or nickel plated.agin, light scratches will polish out well-just use light pressure and be careful!i have restored MANY watches and the results are fantastic--try it,you will like it.

I recently googled a tip on how to polish plastic headlamps for my Plymouth Voyager. They were really dull, almost yellow and ugly looking. I got a tip from a person online that he used this BlueMagic polish cream and 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper (see below for product link) and after a few minutes of sanding and polishing, the headlamps looked almost like new! Well, he was right!! It does work!

Can't wait to try it with other items it says it polishes!

This stuff is awesome. I had been staring at an ugly stain on our "stainless" steel dishwasher for over a year. Our house cleaner had dripped dishwashing liquid down the front and, being a pretty hard oxidizer, it had done a number on the finish. There were lots of rusty driplines down the front, not to mention tons of others stains from regular use. I had tried everything to get them off, being very careful about the abrasiveness of many cleaners (I didn't want to scratch or further scar the surface). I couldn't find any "Stainless Steel Cleaners" to do the trick. I finally found this stuff and it worked like a charm! The corrosion is 100% gone and the finish is completely restored to its original factory luster. All it took was a few seconds of medium pressure rubbing. I am SO HAPPY to have discovered this stuff. It seems to be purely a chemical cleaner - it's very creamy in texture and didn't create any scratches or abbrasions on the surface. It also did not harm any of the plastic trimmings, though I was careful to wipe it off pretty quickly. If you use it on your appliances like me, you'll want a secondary stainless steel polish. This stuff is for *cleaning* - while I was able to buff the finish to a pretty nice luster after using it, a polish made for stainless steel was much easier to make the appliance look good.

One note: open your windows when you use it. This stuff is not organic - it smells HEAVILY of ammonia and gave me a pretty big headache while using it, but I felt fine after getting some fresh air. I have sensitive skin and got some on my fingers but it didn't bother me at all - just the smell was a bit intense.
