Product Description

Full Spectrum, 10,000 Lux light therapy, task and reading lamp. The BlueMax 70w Desk lamp utilizes our full spectrum bulb which contains our patented 6 color phosphor blend to provide the highest quality of light. This bulb provides an unmatched CRI of 96+ and 5900K light, almost an exact match to the color and clarity of light the sunlight produces. Fully dimmable from 100% to 20% which allows you to use the lamp on high for therapy and then dim it down and use it all day long as a task or reading lamp. Patented dimmable flex arm lamp for ideal comfort. Produces 4,300 lumens, equal to a 300w halogen but provides natural daylight, full spectrum, quality lighting that is comparable to the color and clarity of sunlight without any UV. Bring the color and clarity of sun light inside with full spectrum lighting and BlueMax. High quality metal construction. Ideal size and light quality for reading, sewing, arts and crafts but also provides light that is bright enough for light therapy. When the lamp is on high it will produce light therapy with 10,000 lux at 18 inches or 5,000 lux at 28 inches. Flicker-free electronic ballast system. Bulbs last up to 10,000 hours. Lamp stands at 54 inches tall. Lifetime warranty on the lamp 1 year on the bulb.

Don't buy the floor lamp!

It is also embarrassing - like I cannot afford a decent lamp that stands straight.

The first one is still working and on its second bulb.

Properly built, this lamp _could_ have been very nice!

Let's start with the positive:
the lamp has a nice dimmer and powerful light.

Now for the negative:
The big BlueMax "bulb" went dead only a few months after I received the lamp. The manufacturer (Full Spectrum Solutions) replaced it, but charged me $10 for the shipment.

The lamp rod wobbles where it attaches to the base and the lamp does not stand straight It actually was a bit lose right from the start, but it was not too bad and I could have lived with that. Unfortunately it has gradually gotten worse and now (less than one year since I received the lamp), it is leaning so badly I am afraid it will break and fall. It is also embarrassing - like I cannot afford a decent lamp that stands straight. Upon closer inspection, this issue is not surprising, given that there is only a _plastic_ insert in the base and one screw to secure the pole to the post (by screwing into the _plastic_ insert!).

To repair the lamp, the manufacturer (Full Spectrum Solutions) wants me to pay for shipment in both directions (=almost $40 + the hassle of packing it up, etc.), which I am not willing to pay for since I feel I have already spent more than enough on this lamp. So I am stuck with this $200 leaning, wobbly, has-to-be-propped-up lamp until I go buy myself a lamp of better quality.

Lastly, the lamp is a bit short - about a foot longer would have been perfect.

I would not recommend this lamp to a friend or anybody!!

I have had this lamp for about five years, within the first year the stem of the floor lamp broke in half because there is only a tiny little screw holding a two piece lamp together. They would not replace it for me, this lamp works GREAT for( s,a,d) its to bad its not made to last. I have brackets holding it together. I will still use it until I can buy another lamp, it is that important to me to get my sunlight I have bad sleeping patterns. And this lamp helps with sleeping good and helps a lot with the blues. Would have given it five stars if it wasn't for the poor construction. I can't believe they would not replace it for me. So I will not be buying anymore of of their products. Don't buy the floor lamp! I'm sure with the table lamp there will not be a problem because its one piece. But even so being I spend over 200$ on the floor model and I'm sure the desk model is not the same but still I would not buy it now because of bad business on their part.

I mostly LOVE this lamp. I've had one of these for about four years, originally ordered from the manufacturer. It's extremely bright, and the quality of light it produces is fantastic. It's easily the best reading light I've ever used, and will also illuminate an entire room better than most overhead lighting when turned upwards.

One major caveat, however: As noted by other reviewers, the base is not particularly stable, meaning the lamp is quite prone to falling over if knocked or brushed against, especially when placed on a carpeted surface. When the lamp falls, the bulb will almost certainly break (this has happened to me more than once), and replacement bulbs are not cheap. You'll want to situate the lamp somewhere it's very unlikely to be bumped into, and ideally on an uncarpeted floor (which will also make the cleanup easier when the lamp does inevitably fall).

I have had this lamp for 7 -8 years and have had no problems. It is the best, most functional lamp in the house. It has never needed a bulb replacement. It is quite sturdy and very stable - and I have moved it from room to room over the years

I have bought 2 blue max lamps - about 5 years apart. The first one is still working and on its second bulb. The 2nd one I had to throw out after the ballast went and couldn't be replaced. It seems that the quality has really slipped on this product. I won't buy another.
