I upgraded my system and decided that I should upgrade my cables in the process. Besides, I also wanted to use the HDMI connector and avoid a possible signal degradation issue when using an adapter.

This cable has a very well-built feel to it, nice feeling materials. It connects well with the extended screw grips in the DVI side, and the HDMI side plugs in firmly and stays where it's put. I like the matching blue ends to help identify these connectors among the dozens I have due to the several systems behind my desk.

I use this cable to switch between multiple connections on my monitor and it's working great for that purpuse. I can switch to the VGA port to use my KVM and support several systems there, or back to my DVI port and this system. It allows me great flexibility in chosing which device uses the monitor at the time. The length is about right for placing a system on the floor behind a desk and them reaching up to a monitor that's mounted on a arm system like I have. It's long enough that I can swing the arms around and nothing binds. See my other reviews if you are considering a monitor mount as there's a nice one for a good price on Amazon too.

If you don't know -- as I didn't -- the V in DVI is for Video, whereas the M in HDMI is for Media. The difference is the audio. Connecting this as I did, to the DVI port on my computer and an HDMI port on a TV, does transmit the video signal correctly, but DVI is video-only, whereas HDMI includes both video and audio, so a separate audio interface is necessary.

I'd like to emphasize that this is not a shortcoming of this cable in any way, but if you're trying to do what I did, be warned about the audio aspect.

This BlueRigger cable is pretty thick, has a sturdy build quality with gold plated solid connectors. It supports Full HD (1080p) content and the output picture quality is seriously awesome. A Great Buy, 100% recommended.

This is a review of BlueRigger's High Speed HDMI to DVI Adater Cable ~6'.

First off you should know although this cable's DVI end appears to be DVI-D dual link, it is NOT. It is single link. HDMI is single link. There is no such thing as dual link involving an HDMI cable including this cable. That means the maximum resolution with this cable is only 1920 x 1080.

This cable is also NOT high speed as advertised. Dual link is high speed DVI, which is ~9.9 Gbps. Single link DVI maximum speed is 4.95 Gbps. That means the maximum speed of this cable is 4.95 Gbps, which is not high speed DVI.

This cable also does not work with all devices, so I recommend being careful where you purchase it from in case you need to return it. It would not work with my AMD video card and ViewSonic monitor. I received a "no signal" error. An HDMI > HDMI or DVI > DVI cable would be a better sure bet.

Cable appears to be 28 AWG.

Be careful out there shopping. Test what you get to ensure the cable does what it says it does! Return it if it does not.

Keep in mind with BlueRigger, there is no phone to contact them. All contact including technical support is by email. I sure didn't think I'd need tech support, but I did!

I originally planned to use this to connect my son's PC (w/DVI port) to his TV (HDMI in). However, I found out that I needed it for my new PC (w/HDMI out) to connect to my monitor (DVI in). It works both ways! The BlueRigger cable appears to be very high quality, the cable is thick, and the connectors are at least partially metal. It looks great, too, and is a great bargain.

I'm using this adapter cable to go from a dvi connector on my computer graphics card to a plasma tv HDMI input. The picture is amazing campared with the s-video I was using before. Sound is not output with this so you have to add cables for the sound.

I have had it for a few days now and it is very well constructed and works great. I am using it to go from a Plugable Pro8 tablet docking station to a 32" Philips TV so, I can have a larger screen for my HP Stream 7. The cable is black flexible rubber like material and is a little under a 1/4" thick. The cable is labeled "AWM Style 20276 80 degrees C 30V VW-1" and "High Speed HDMI TM Cable with Enternet" E252840". The ends are black molded rubber like material with a blue metal wrapped around it. The connectors are gold plated and fit tight. Nice cable would get more of BlueRigger cables.

I have an older Toshiba Cinema Series projection TV (HD-ready, 1080i). It does not have HDMI connections, just RCA, Component, and a single HDCP/DVI connector. With this cable, we utilized the HDCP port on the TV (because all others were taken) to connect to the HDMI on the Xbox360. Picture is great.

One issue though - and this is not with the cable, but an issue with the Xbox360 and this setup. The Xbox is made such that you cannot use the HDMI connection and get RCA audio out. In fact, the Xbox's proprietary RCA connector intentionally blocks the HDMI connector so you cannot have both plugged in at the same time. Since the HDCP port on the TV is Video-only, the only way to get audio out of the Xbox then in this configuration is by using the Xbox Optical Audio out jack. Since the older projection TVs like my Toshiba don't have that either, there is no way to get audio going directly into the TV using this setup. The only way to get Xbox audio then is if you also have an audio Receiver that accepts an Optical Audio input. Luckily, my setup was also with an Onkyo receiver that did have anavailable Optical audio in port. Dumb design on the Xbox which assumes that if you're using HDMI, you either must get your audio through HDMI, or use the Optical audio - no RCA audio allowed.
