5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant little product for people who work with books a lot, March 19, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I must say I like my flipklip very much. It does exactly what it advertises: its a small, thin clip (about 5 inches long), it 'pops' open and 'pops' closed onto a book, and holds the book open for you, very reliably. Basically I use it in those cases where normally I'd have used a bookstand:

-With this, you dont need a separate bookstand for most things. You can just use the flipklip, cuz it holds the book open, and then the book 'stands up' by itself if you want it to. Its much smaller and portable than a full sized bookstand.

-I have a handheld scanner, and the flipklip holds the book 'flat' for me as I scan text.

-It works very consistently, whether i'm reading page 1 or page 100 (ie, the variable thicknesses of the book on the left and right side dont affect it), and I've used 500 page books with it.

-Its made from plastic with vinyl covered fingers to hold the pages. Turning pages is easy; the vinyl ends are just the right grippiness where they dont stop you from easily turning pages and they dont slip off either.

In sum: You'll use it more often than your bookstand. Its not necessarily for everything: for instance, I generally wouldnt use it to hold open a book that I'm just reading straight thru (anyway they have those thumb-things that can hold a book open for that). And yes, sometimes nothing beats a full sized bookstand. However, for such a cheap price, its really handy to have and for most things you'll find yourself reaching for the flipklip rather than a bookstand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful, January 9, 2007
This review is from: FlipKlip Cook BookHolders 1-Pak
I'm @ the athletic club @ 5:30 every morning. To keep my mind occupied, while laboring on the eliptical machine, I like to read. It was a real problem reading paperbacks. They just would not stay open. With the "Flip Klip Very Cool Little Book Holder" that problem has been solved. Many of my friends @ the club have asked me about the KLIP and I have endorsed it with great Gusto! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, needs a few changes, March 7, 2009
This review is from: FlipKlip Cook BookHolders 1-Pak
This book holder is a good idea and it works pretty well. It does keep the book open, which is nice. The grips on the end are effective as well. However, I think the spring should be a little stronger because it has a hard time holding open some thicker books with tight bindings. Of course there's also always the issue of having to take the clamp off every time you turn the page...but I don't see a way around this. I find I use it the most when I'm typing a paper and need the book open in front of me. It doesn't work very well to hold a book open with your arms and type at the same time. I would recommend the product, but it could use an adjustment or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for workouts!, April 10, 2009
This review is from: FlipKlip Cook BookHolders 1-Pak
I first bought a plastic clip from a local book store to keep my book open during my workouts, but it didn't work well for paperbacks, and didn't work at all for hardbacks (at least not the large Stephen King size ones that I read). I found the FlipKlip and love it! It keeps the book open while not taking the pages hostage when it's time to flip them. I'm very happy that I found it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, December 9, 2009

I'm ordering my second Flip Klip. I lost my first one somewhere between home and the gym. I can't live without one, so I'm ordering two this time. It is very easy to use and very effective at holding my book open while I work on the exercise machines. It holds very thick books open as well as standard-sized. For a long time, I used it at the bottom of the book, although I don't know why, but it is much more effective and easy to turn pages if used at the top of the book. (Am I the only one who ever used it at the bottom? I feel a little stupid).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gadget, November 16, 2010
This review is from: FlipKlip Cook BookHolders 1-Pak
As I am battling the bulge at the gym, I find reading while on the treadmill and bike makes the agony less painful. My old gym had treadmills that had a kinda book shelf, but the new gym's don't, so I was searching for something to hold the book open - this is it!!!! Works like a charm, extremely portable and inexpensive. Now the only problem is finding a book to keep my attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Cookbooks!, March 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I searched for something to hold my cookbooks open, without being too "vertical" or taking-up too much space. I happened-upon this nifty little gadget, on Amazon. Wow! It is so perfect! Very sturdy and strong. Plus, so versatile for use with any sized books. And, I like that it can be clipped to either the top or bottom of a book. I highly recommend to any other cooks out there!

4.0 out of 5 stars Low Price, Good Value!, October 12, 2011

As a college student, you have piles of books of reads and tons of notes to take. I have spent so many countless hours trying to awkwardly hold open a book while also trying to take notes. Finally I gave up on "playing games" with trying to keep my book open so I went on Amazon to see what was out there. After carefully investigating the options, I found this to be the least expensive book holder. I was a little nervous when I bought it not knowing what to expect, but now that I have it I really like it! Makes note-taking so much more reasonable. The only downside is, it is probably not the best for fat book or really heavy/ tightly bound books. But since I don't have any of those anyway, it is not a problem. I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little Book holder, October 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FlipKlip Cook BookHolders 1-Pak
I lost a book holder that I had and was looking for a replacement. I needed something to hold my books open while on the StairMaster at the gym. While a little pricey for a plastic item, it more than fit the bill. It takes up almost no room in my gym bag and it works like a charm. It's called a cook book holder, but it's way more versatile than that. Too bad that Amazon doesn't stock this item so that it could qualify for free shipping.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but not for my purpose, August 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FlipKlip Cook BookHolders 1-Pak
I bought this for my mother who has lost the use of one hand due to a stroke. I was hoping this would help her reading books without struggling to keep it open and turning a page. While the product works well, it's difficult to use with one hand when you're setting it up or turning a page. It's a bit awkward when you're first putting it on. But if I set it up for her, it would be helpful as far as holding the book open.
