4.0 out of 5 stars Works well but pricey
The only reason for 4 stars is that the price keeps going up and they are very pricey. They work very well at keeping the air clean.

3.0 out of 5 stars called a particle filter for a reason......
Need to replace these filters every 6 mo. or they start to disinegrate leaving white particles all over your furniture. I wonder how long I was breathing this stuff before I noticed it. Also, once the filter is replaced - there is no way to shut off the red warning light for filter change. I looked at owners manual and it wasn't addressed there either???? Any help...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great filter for a great air purifier, November 11, 2007

We have owned the Blueair 205C for 6 months and just replaced the filter. This air purifier is fantastic. I only wish we could afford a bigger one. You can move this unit anywhere in the house, a bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, anywhere you need some fresh air and WOW! It really works. The filter traps dust, pet dander, odors, you name it.
A product that really does what it says! The allergy doctor suggested this kind of air purifier and we love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Collected 2.5 oz of filth from the air, February 6, 2011

I foolishly put off replacing my filter for about 1 year. I figured I could get away with it because I keep a very clean house. I'm allergic and my kid has asthma, so I'm always dusting with Swiffers, microfiber mopping, etc. Nobody smokes around here; there are no pets; the windows are closed 9 months out of the year and the rest of the time we use window air conditioning units. Nevertheless, when I went to change my 200PF HEPA filter, I noticed that while the new one was translucent and white, the old one was dark grey and opaque. Curious, I weighed the filters on my postage scale. The old one weighed a full 2-1/2 oz more than the new one. I know it wasn't moisture, because my air is bone dry. Nope -- the filter was saturated with 2.5 ounces of particulate gunk that would've been destined for my family's lungs.

Suddenly it doesn't seem like such an indulgence to replace the filter every six months.

Yes, to my mind, definately. About the price. I've been buying this particular filter, once every 6 months and it never cost 79.95$. It always cost 50$ more or less. It works and you can actually sense that the air that you are breathing is clean healthy. Buy the machine and the filters and live a longer more healthy life.

3.0 out of 5 stars it's a filter, March 6, 2011

It's a filter. nothing special. 3 star because my phillips filter costs 1/3 of this and work just the same.

Also the phillips one is truly inaudible at speed 1. and the description does not have things like "Exceptional filtration - 99.97% at 0.1 micron on Speed One" ...does it mean with blueair as soon as i move the speed to max it will blow all those 0.1µm stuck in the filter while it was at speed 1 back into the air?

...anyway, have to keep buying those otherwise my expensive filter became useless
