5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, Effective, Fantastic
This is a great air purifier for a single room. I have severe dust and mold allergies, and can now sleep in my old, dusty, moldy house without waking up because I can't breath. I have been running it 24/7 with no noticeable change to my power-bill.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work as described
This item does not work as it claimed. it is very expensive, too. suggest you Winix brand, I had one of that kind too . The winix has a dust sensor and odor sense which automatically turbo the machine when it senses dust.

5.0 out of 5 stars No more coughing and clearing in the morning, January 14, 2010
This review is from: Blueair 210B Energy-Star HEPASilent Air Purifier (Kitchen)
This solved my daughters dust mite allergy problem. She had been waking up
every morning too early with minor but persistent coughing and throat clearing
that would start around 4:00 - 5:00 am, and continue so she was not able to
get back to sleep. Getting up and going would stop it until the next morning
when it woke her up again.

We cleaned her room thoroughly many times, but were about ready to replace the
(3 years new) carpet with hardwood in her room because we could not resolve
the problem. But this machine does the trick. Almost no coughing or clearing
anymore in the mornings before she gets out of bed. She slept until 7:00 today.

Any purifier may have fixed this, but this one did it for us so I'm very happy
with it. It was important for our needs that this one filters out very small particles.
It's also very quiet and the blue light acts like a night-lite for her (I would
tape over that if this were in any other bedroom). And it's simple to use: we
turn it on in the late afternoon (a simple dial switch that clicks into four
settings - off, low, med, high fan) and off in the morning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really noticeably works!, February 10, 2010

I bought this on the recommendation of my Doctor of Oriental Medicine, who owns one herself. She thought the wood smoke particulates in my home were bothering my respiratory system and she was right. This unit makes the air feel and smell fresh and clean and within a couple of days I was breathing better and had less respiratory issues bothering me. Well worth it. And small enough that I can move it from room to room easily (and I am 64). Highly recommended. It also came with a free filter, an additional $49 value, which I thought was fabulous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps me with my allergies to cats... i'll explain, December 26, 2010

This review is from: Blueair 210B Energy-Star HEPASilent Air Purifier (Kitchen)
My Fiancee and I moved into an apartment in February of this year (2010). The person before us must have had cats in here because the screens of the windows were all scratched up and oh yeah, I couldn't breathe! Sort of a problem. I am severely allergic to cats. We vacuumed, dusted, we did EVERYTHING. I had to take my inhaler daily, something I never had to do. I would never need to use my inhaler ever, only when I was around cats and sometimes dogs.

Anyway 9 months or so goes by and I remember I have this old BlueAir 501 unit just collecting dust in another location. Well I bring it over, hook it up and my allergies improved, a lot! So I figured i'd get one for the bedroom as well. I ordered the BlueAir 210B and it has really helped with my allergies. Its small and relatively lightweight (pretty easy to pick up and move), yet it has really good airflow, even on the lowest setting.

It's quiet on the lowest setting, the others you can definitely hear it more. As for the people who want dust and odor sensors, what the heck do you need those for? Isn't that why you got the airfilter, so there's no dust or odors in your house? If for some reason you plan on creating a lot of dust doing something, here's an idea, just turn up the setting on your filter for a while!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great unit. Very quiet, seems very effective so far...., January 21, 2011

This review is from: Blueair 210B Energy-Star HEPASilent Air Purifier (Kitchen)
The reviews here were very helpful.

I'd had the big, bulky Honeywell filters in the past. They have a huge footprint in a small house, are noisy, rattle, are kind of a pain to maintain (at least they were several years ago), and are kind of expensive. Then I "Upgraded" to the sharper image Ionic Breezes - because I just wanted quiet operation, no filters and a small footprint. They do/did all that. But they didn't really filter the air. I held on to them for a couple years because I couldn't admit how much money I had wasted. And I think I head they give off ozone which is not good for asthmatics.

So, we got a dog. And my fairly well managed asthma and allergies blossomed into chronic bronchitis. Time for air filters again!

I didn't want to go back to Honeywell. I did a lot of reading of reviews an research and this brand/unit seemed to be the porridge that Goldilocks picked.

The unit is fairly quiet. Some reviewers say it is not. Perhaps they've not tried to sleep with a honeywell wheezing and rattling in the background? Or with the intermittent LOUD static-y noises that the sharper images make. This is quiet. My husband says he couldn't sleep with it on high, but he could on medium. I am certain I could sleep with it on high.

It has a small footprint compared to other hepa filters. The filter replacement seems REALLY straightforward. With the Honeywells there were two filters, a floppy pre filter and a big expensive hepa filter. This unit, you open the door, remove the filter every six months and pop a new one in. The filter is also water proof. Don't use it in the rain or anything stupid, it just means that you don't really need to worry about mold growing in it if it gets really humid in your home. Which, if you have bad allergies to mold, is a big comfort.

This unit can not be pushed up against the wall. I've seen some people list that as a con, but it really is no big deal. Like I said, it doesn't have much of a footprint, so it isn't invasive.

I've been recovering from bronchitis and have found it difficult to sleep without coughing, despite cleaning all the hypoallergenic bedding, vacuuming the room etc. The night I put this filter in my room, I was immediately able to sleep just fine. SWEET RELIEF!

I also researched the price. I did not find any retailer with a better price.

It is an investment, but it is a sound one. This unit is very very well made and arrived from the retailer promptly and without a single scratch or wrinkle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Silent and effective, April 15, 2010
This review is from: Blueair 210B Energy-Star HEPASilent Air Purifier (Kitchen)
This spring, pollen counts have been off the charts due to much heavier than normal winter precipitation in this area. I've been using Ionic Breeze air purifiers for a couple of years, and they do help, but I've been miserable lately and the IB's just haven't been able to keep up this year. I purchased the Blueair 210b through Amazon and my allergy problems are now a memory. I sleep through the night and don't wake up with itchy eyes and nasal congestion each morning. The Blueair works its wonders in almost total silence. The only downside may be that the blue power-on light is fairly bright and that may bother some folks. Not me, though. It's like a colorful night light in the bedroom. This particular model is suited for fairly small rooms (168 sq ft) so be sure to check out Blueair's bigger units for a larger room.

Highly recommended.

I am an allergic person to environmental allergens, pollens, dust, etc. and I am very pleased with the air purifier. We have it in our bedroom and it's whisper quiet at night which is great. I can feel the difference when I wake up in the morning, not as stuffy and congested. Definately worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Bang for Buck, May 28, 2011

This review is from: Blueair 210B Energy-Star HEPASilent Air Purifier (Kitchen)
I have been using this air purifier for 3 months now. The reason I know this is the unit came with a countdown timer that indicates days to filter change. Today it reads 94 days.

I have it in the Office, a 12 by 12 room, as my wife and I spend most of the day here working out of the home. Now, does it collect all the dust floating in the room? No, My computer still gets dirty, but not as bad as before adding the purifier.

The unit is pretty big. When in operation it draws air in at the back of the unit and vents it straight up from the top of the unit. I have it on medium all the time, and its not that noisy, but is to noisy to leave on high when we are in the room. Following the directions, I have vacuumed loose dust/pet hair the back of the unit and filter.

I really was expecting it to have sucked up more dust than it has. It is located about 6 inches from the wall, a distance that I figure gives it ample room for good airflow.

I am pleased enough to consider buying a bigger unit for our great room.
