Excellent Sampler of Performances by Some Bluegrass Greats, June 12, 2003
This is a collection of live performances by two different editions of the Country Gentlemen, two different editions of the Seldom Scene, and the great mid-1970s edition of J.D. Crowe and the New South, featuring Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, and Jerry Douglas.
The songs are, by and large, the songs most readily associated with each of the groups, and for good reason. Nearly every song is strong, and the musicianship is, as would be expected, impeccable.
There's lots to like here; my own favorites include Hickory Wind by the then-current (Phil Rosenthal) edition of the Seldom Scene, Old Train by the original Seldom Scene, the Jerry Douglas instrumental Fireball with the New South, and Fox On the Run by the Country Gentlemen.

Classic modern bluegrass, October 17, 2010
I've had this on tape for years and wanted to add it to my digital collection. This is a great live album with some of my favorite bluegrass musicians. Can't ever have enough of the original Country Gentlemen!

Bluegrass: The World's Greatest Show, September 22, 2009
This is one of the greatest bluegrass albums you'll ever hear. The original Seldom Scene and the original Country Gentlemen sing classic bluegrass favorites. It doesn't get any better than this.
