A real treasure!,
By Matteo Ringressi (Forlì, Italy) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bluegrass at the Roots (Audio CD)
I feel we got to thank Mike Seeger for recording this wonderful album in 1961. Everett and Bea, along with Don Stover and fiddler Herb Hooven, are among the most undervalued bluegrass musicians of all times.
This fantastic album features, for the first part, some duets recorded only with guitar, mandolin, and the sweet yet archaic harmonies of the Lillys. The second part of the CD has a more "bluegrassy" content, with Don's banjo prominent and inventive as always. If you like traditional bluegrass, you surely won't be disappointed!!
