It didn't break! The thing I didn't count on is that when it's not in use it picks up dust. (In my house, it picks up a lot.) I only have my phone on it overnight so it's exposed all day. And as it picks up dust, the adhesiveness gets weaker. Eventually, it gets so weak that the phone won't stick and that's when I get some scotch tape and remove the dust. For about a week after that, it feels like it's going to snap apart every time I remove the phone. But it hasn't yet and I guessing that with this usage pattern it probably won't for a long time. So I'm updating my rating to 5 stars. YMMV, but it's worked out okay for me. I'd still be willing to pay $50-80 for the same design carved out of a single block of aluminum, though.
MY ORIGINAL REVIEW (from March 2012):
Read the other reviews. When they say it's flimsy they are not kidding. I thought they must be too picky or something and went ahead and ordered it, but this thing is very poorly-designed. I can't see it even lasting a month. The suction is so good, the piece that holds the phone is under a tremendous amount of stress when you peel the phone off. It's made of plastic, and you can see it straining against the connection point, also plastic.
I agree with the other negative reviews: it needs to be designed as one piece. If they did that, maybe from aluminum, it would be worth triple the current price. As it stands now, it's not worth the $15 they want for it, and it will cost you over $5 to return it because it's not Amazon's fault you ignored the bad reviews. DON'T IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS. I don't know how this got on the market, but I think Amazon should de-list it.
Rather than go through the trouble of boxing it up & shipping it to get less than $10 back, I'm going to use it daily. I will update this review when it breaks. If it lasts 6 months, I'll change my review's title and up the rating to 5 stars.
Repair is simple. Get a powerful adhesive like Liquid Nails and fill it up, then place the front panel back. WAIT a few days and it should be stronger than ever!
The fatal, and inexcusable IMO, design flaw is that there really isn't enough space at the bottom to accommodate a lightning cable without exerting upward pressure on the cable where it attaches to the lightning plug, and away from the mount. Not good for the cable and it falls off the mount after about 20 seconds anyway, do the point is moot.
After much experimenting I did find that it was possible to attach a cable to an iPhone 5s without it falling off by orienting the bottom edge of the phone slightly ABOVE the bottom edge of the mounting plate and pressing hard onto the phone with both thumbs for about 20 seconds. This keeps it in place for regular use but still exerts too much pressure on the cable joint and is a lot of work for a product that could easily have avoided this problem just by adding an a extra half-inch to the base. Design FAIL!!!
Overall, I really like the design and feel that the Milo does a great job of holding my phone. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to plug in my ear buds and stick my phone on the pad in portrait mode, but it turns out my concerns were unfounded. However, I don't have the same luck when I plug in the thunderbolt cable (I typically place my phone on the pad in landscape mode).
It's worth mentioning that I did buy two more Milos after my first purchase. One of the Milos is on my nightstand and works just as well as the first one I purchased, but I had to return the other one because it was not sticking correctly. I don't think the sticking issue is indicative of the product's design; I probably just got a bad unit.

Loses it's tackyness every now and then, but is easily brought back to life after running a quick piece of scotch tape over it. Other than that it's awesome. Nice and minimalistic. Read morePublished 19 days ago by SUAShawn
