Suction is quickly weakened. Even in a clean environment. Using tape to clean suction surface, doesn't provide great results. Device is not as sticky as is needed. Great idea, acceptable execution.

I really thought I was going to love this thing. Silicon Valley designer, gadget geek, loves great products and having quality stuff.
This stand is very well designed, no manufacturing flaws. Beautiful to look at. The micro-sticky stuff is weird and cool and sticky but also not sticky. You apparently clean it with sticky tape when it gets gunked up.
But as a stand, it's silly. When you think about it, anytime your device is sitting around on your desk or nightstand or wherever you want to have it sitting around, it's also plugged in.
And, with the little power cord coming out the bottom, you have to put the phone into the stand really high. High enough that the sticky thing can;t do it's job.
So, 2 stars for good design. But can;t give the rest for any usefulness.
Mine sat on my desk for a week not egting used, then I tossed it for being additional clutter I didn;t need.
Hope threse giys do more product design, but with more usefulness.

I purchased this so my iPhone could be used as a GPS while driving to and from college an hour away. I got tired of my iPhone sliding all over the dashboard, and falling over every time I hit a bump in the road. So when I saw this, I knew I would use it enough to make it worth the price. In the short 4 months that I owned it, I barely used it dozen times, never dropped it, and I never kept it out in the car in the heat or cold. I always kept it in the original box or in my purse. For $30, I was definitely going to baby this thing so it would last. But "last" it didn't. I was shocked when I tried to remove my iPhone from its sticky grips (after I positioned it crookedly), and the thing broke! If only everyone knew this thing is held together with 2 small screws, some cheap glue (and the glue isn't even around the outside edges - it's in the far back, where the metal post joins the plastic), and thin plastic screw mounts that eventually snap into pieces, they would be infuriated that they spent $30 on it. I know I was fooled by its sleek design and smooth feel. Believe it or not, the white front and bottom part of this stand is made of the equivalent of double-stick tape mounted on thin plastic! Yes, that's all it is, only it has some kind of silicone-jelled coating on it that releases your phone and is waterproof. This double-stick tape component is definitely NOT worth the high price tag. And once you get your phone on, you have to work a bit at prying it off should you need to reposition it. The other thing that's annoying is that whenever you sit this little stand down, it sticks! So you're always prying it off of the table or counters, or other surfaces you set it down on. It also picks up all kinds of dirt and gunk, so you have to wash it frequently. Unfortunately, it doesn't stick 100% of the time, either. I tried to stick it to my car's windshield so I could better see my GPS. But in the middle of the trip, it just fell off! Sometimes it sticks great, sometimes it doesn't, but I know I couldn't have it performing unpredictably in the middle of rush hour traffic! So I just kept it on the dash section in front of me, which blocked the view of my car's controls (the only place it would stay). It doesn't stick onto the vinyl dash of cars, so your iPhone just falls off the dash since the weight is unbalanced on this stand. And since you have to take your OtterBox off your phone to use this thing, it doesn't make you very happy to see your phone hit the floor of your vehicle! Overall it LOOKS cool, but gets an F in my grade book because of the price and lack of quality parts. I really wanted to like this, and did everything to accommodate its many faults, but when the front snapped off, and I saw how cheaply it was made, I had to post this so others wouldn't make the same mistake I had. Buyer Beware!!!
